So heres my situation. I have an 89 240 fastback and Im getting a set of 17x7 wheels for free. they come with 205 40 17 tires. and have a +40mm offset. I have been doing my homework (searching), and everyone says the same thing, get some volks or something with better offsets. or they say get a spacer, but never give a clear answer as to what size. so, heres my question...
To all those that have s13's and running 17x7's with 205 40 17 tires with a 40 mm offset, what size wheel spacer do you use? and is it just in the front/back? or all the way around?
All replies are appreciated...thanks in advance... :wavey:

3 things that will help you to never post newbie shit like this ever again.
1. Learn about offsets
2. SEARCH for pics of people's wheels and the offsets that they are running.
3. Go to http://toy4two.home.mindspring.com/offset.html and figure out what spacers you want ON YOUR OWN.

first off u should get a tire with a higher side wall, the tire spec u have are for civics... i think u need 205/55/r17 Ive seen 17x7.5 with 205/40/r17 fit fine without spacers on a s14 and s13 but its pretty close...

Thanks for all the good advice. And the offset calculator was most helpful. But, as usual, the question at hand went unanswered...What size wheel spacer should I use?

spacer thickness = actual wheel offset - desired offset

i would personally go with a 10~15mm and get extended wheel studs. you could go as big as a 20mm spacer or even bigger if you camber your wheels but sounds like you dont have anything to adjust any of that so just stick with 10-15

more than likely you'll need something like 15mm in the rear and 10 in the front. you got FWD wheels and you'll need a lil more meat on those tires, too. the rear tends to be deeper set on s13's which is why the rear needs slightly more spacer... next time tho, get some rwd wheels and you won't have to worry bout puttin on extra pieces of aluminum takin up hubbolt space

I haven't gone on 707imports in forever. One of my old team mates uses my old name now because he was too lazy to register. What ever he says on there is on him, not me. thanks for all the good advice though =)
