My redtop sr20det has burnt exhaust valves and cylinder 1 piston kissed the valves and got pretty chewed up. I was wondering if it's worth replacing only the Pistons or if I should go for a whole long block. Just wanted to some insight and what would be the best route money wise in the long run. Considering machining prices and all that. Thanks.:ugh:

welp, you're probably gonna wanna replace about every single thing short of the block itself and the bare head.
replace pistons, all bearings, for sure inspect crank to make sure its true, new valve seats, valves, might as well upgrade valves and springs and retainers and do a port job on the valve seats.
sounds like a TON of work. if you're planning on staying under 300hp, I would just buy another long block. if youre planning on shooting for 375+ might as well do the rebuild and upgrade everything
^^^^ this man speaks the truth.

You probably have the cam oil sprayers blocked by gunk, which killed the valves and sent metal scraps everywhere. I would not bother with that engine, keep the crank and peripehrals if they are still ok, then get another engine.
