So I took the time did the search read everyones post on how to or how they removed that damn speed limiter that is such a pain in my ass... SO i went to work I went to the e.c.u. I opened up the kick panel and found the infamous yellow wire with green stripe on it.... So i did what eeryone else said and cut it taped it up put it back and decided to go for a top speed run................ so i throw the key in the ignition turn it over and. it fires up sort of the car sounded like it was firing on two cylinders and was just way out of time. So i did what every car guy would do in my situation I freaked turned the car off reconnected it and same thing now im losing it.... so I disconect the negative battery terminal let it sit for an hour get back in and fire it up and its fine... What the hell happened? I know that I reset the computer but my question is why did I have to? Can someone shed some light on this for me..... By the way its an 91 with an sr incase you didnt read my sig.. Please help i need to get rid of that damn thing i keep getting walked on by saturns and neons on the highway its really embarrasing when you beat them by like 10 car lengths and then they catch up and pull on you at 115.... :rl:

I thought there was more to it than just cutting 1 wire, and also im pretty sure there are TWO yellow/green wires, might wanna double check that

Instead of taking a chance screwing up your fricking computer go to the HKS web site or google a speed limiter cut they are like $90-$120 it taps in to the ecu very simple installation. then voila speed limiter cut. or get a power FC with commander (very easy for amature to tune) or some other computer and there you go.........

yeah, so much easier to get a speed limit defenser. Mine's made by Pivot. It's a creazy feeling almost topping out in fifth, after only know top of 115mph in my usdm s14. Don't like the whole ecu hacking crap, I tried it by putting an on/off switch on the 5th gear sensor, kills the speedo and really the feeling of crazy speed when you look down at the gauges.

I have daughterboards for the s13 sr and I can give you a stock tune with the speed limiter removed, fuel/boost cut removed, and a slightly higher rev limit if you want for only $70. To make sure you cut the right wire check out http://sr20det.nismo.org/srtech.htm.

dunno how old this is... just thought i'd add that the greddy speed cut defencer is like at LEAST half of the HKS unit. How much is the pvot unit?

why not... theres plenty of peeeps trying to do the same thing. . The greddy universal speed cut is the cheapest one . goes for around $70 but havent tried if it works.
