View Full Version : what's wrong with my car?

so i hooked up my safc, and it's telling me i have -760 mm Hg vacuum.
so i thought, "hmm maybe that gang of vacuum lines on the back of the head with the two sensors that i removed has anything to do with it."

so i grabbed the sensors and hooked em up in series on the only vacuum line i have left - fpr to intake mani.

i still have the same shitty idle, but now the car wants to bog and die instantly as soon as i let off the clutch a little.

how are you reading vac. with the safc?

yeah. i don't have a vac gauge. ima have my friend bring his over one of these days.

i forgot to mention the safc still reads -760 mm after i hooked those sensors up.

i looked in the fsm and those sensors are the solenoids for egr and scv, which i'm not using.

will safc even get a pressure signal from KA?
the wires are
power
rpm
throttle
ground
ground
air-flow/pressure in
air-flow/pressure out

the air-flow/pressure connects to the wire from the mafs. the safc tells me air-flow but will the same wire tell me pressure? that seems unlikely.

yeah you wont be able to get a pressure/vac reading without a map sensor.
with hotwire sensors you can get a usage % though, but i think you are still n/a so i doubt that will be an issue. try to get the other gauge and that should tell you what kinda shape you are in for vac leaks.

:bash:

They don't. You don't need any of that, unless you ditched the SCV solenoid and left the SCVs in the manifold.

okay cool. so i guess i'll take that stuff off again.
glad to know i not SUPPOSED to get a pressure reading. that makes me feel better.

i left the egr and scv on the mani, and capped off their outlets. anything wrong with this idea?

yes everything is wrong with that idea, why the hell did you do that? F*&king tard. haha jp

Naw nothing is wrong with that. didnt you research and find out that most people did that anyways?
Hey did you get your timing issue fixed? I was gone for a while, and havent kept up.
Anyways whats going on for the weekend?

i moved both cams one tooth counter clockwise and that made a huge difference in power. i guess the crank wasn't at tdc the first time i installed the cams.
i still need to time the ignition and re-check compression though

umm i dunno what's goin on this weekend.
