Anybody know the insides and outs of PCs and laptops? I have a Dell inspiron 5720 an older laptop and Windows 10 has been horrible experience for me. Everything was great until I went to Dell and they said I needed driver updates and to flash a new BIOS (a19). I did that and when my laptop reset airplane mode is stuck permanently on and my fn+f2 key (turns on wireless connections) hardly works, it would turn on then turn off 5 seconds later. I really need help this is so irritating... I hate dell for running me with THEIR updates. Any help is appreciated thanks!

I'd try rolling back whatever you updated or running a system restore from when it did work.

Windows 10 played hell with my video card. I installed the latest drivers, then when window update would run, it would install the driver from Microsoft. Still a nvidia driver, but would blue screen the pc. Uninstall it and the pc worked fine....until the next Windows update.

The bio flash, verify that it is the correct bios.
If it can be undone, do it. Starting at this point, you should have a working system.
You can blame dell all you like, but the reality is, it's user error.
If you get your WiFi working correctly with the previous bios or if you can confirm the new bios is correct? I will walk you through an update or restore via RDP or RA.
Can you gain internet access via a wired connection?

You are right in should of did more research. I can't even get a wired connection airplane mode won't allow any kind of network connection. I was looking at the boot menu and diagnostic menu. I read that wireless wan is not installed but wireless lan and wireless switch is. I can't use restore points it will not let me. I can't even get on to download the previous bios.

Your system boots up though correct? Can you verify the checksum of your bios download? If it's not these values let me know.

I'll send you a copy if need be, you do have alternative ways of getting files on your computer, phone, SD card, bluetooth, etc.

What do you mean with networking?

The system boots up and most things work, I can log in etc... how can I check the values? I can most likely access something you send me. I'll have to figure it out.

Yes it will verify it's a duplicate
If it doesn't match it's curupt or missing data. I'm trying to find the oem bios for you, to roll back the bios. If that bios file you downloaded was curupt, try downloading it again and reinstalling

Try that bios a17 downgrade, hopefully you can install it. Check the hash on both before install.

How can I get a17 on my laptop and how to check the hash as well?

Did you check to see if the card reader works? sd/ms iirc.

If not you could try burning a cd/DVD with a few tools from another computer, worst case.
