S13 Heater core Nonserviceable

I am trying to replace the heater core in my car. but the "spectra premium heater core" does not come with the plastic necks that stick through the fire wall.
I called their company and they tell me to use the original ones, from on the car.

I started getting really frustated Because isnt the original nissan part a 1 piece design? (not some stupid gasket, and 4 screw, gonna leak design)

Am I missing something? am l an idiot?

The heater core is not a one piece design. You must remove the plastic necks from the old heater and install on the new one. I've never seen the necks leak. Heater cores leak from deteriorating aluminum fins in the core.

is that something they changed after like 91 or something cause my 90 had a 1 piece unit.
Im ordering a different heater core that has the necks on it cause i found some on ebay.
I did find the necks seperate they are a 50-70 dollar dorman part though 902-099
