Ok guys, been jumping around the idea of different motor setups to drop into my coupe for awhile now. I thought about the ls1 but for this point in my life, that just seems too far fetched with being a student full time and working 3 days a week, plus I'm not trying to be waiting 2 years just putting a motor in the car.
My ideas are Rb25, Sr20, or vh45.
I'm looking for around 275-350whp, honestly just trying to get my money's worth out of the car.
The car will be mainly a track car that gets brought out on the road every now and again, when I get bored of my 1j sc300.
I want a "torquey" car, and I know this has all probably been discussed before on which is which but I found mainly older threads and want to see what everyone is thinking now.
What is the best engine for reliability, price, and of course to have some fun in.
Thank you guys for all the help and opinions!
I also have a Garrett gt3076r but that won't be thrown on any car for a bit. Just want to get the engine to around the power and torque I said and get used to the car before I do anything like that.

sr20 will hit that easy with that turbo...

Single or dual bump stick ka? If dual, why not go ka-t? They have plenty of low end grunt.
Which is better for my car KA12 or KA24? Or a Gallo12 or Gallo24?

Ka42det. The answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and boost.

Bought the coupe off my friend with a blown headgasket KA, sold the motor for parts. It was a steal for 800$ with all new Isr coils, couple other parts, brand new square wheels he got 2 months before, and all maintenance was done at shops because he knew nothing about the car.
So KA-T is out of the question, all I have left is the transmission because it hasn't sold

I'd go sr then. Much easier swap than rb or v8.

pre fly by wire chevy v8. can get a 5.3l for like 400 bucks, throw whatever trans you want behind it.. then either buy a pre fab swap kit or piece one together. throw a decent cam, intake and long tubes at it and you'll meet your power and torque goals easy.. plus way more reliable than SR or RB or KA-T.
btw... guys... he said torquey.. lol 4k rpm to even reach 200ft/lbs isn't torquey.. ls1 can sit at 2k rpm and 300ftlbs. that's torque.

Well yea, ls is bang for buck power. You can find 4.8 and 5.3 truck mills all day long for dirt cheap. Just didn't mention it since in his second sentence, he said it would be a no go. Why no ls but a vh45?

yeah, a nice ls1 and nice t56 is gonna run 4-5k. a 4.8 or 5.3 truck motor with harness and trans can be had for 2k. which SR motor and trans might run ya. sure it'll be a little more work but it'd be cheap and reliable. a VK swap would be fun too but proably more expensive

If my truck ever gets totalled, I'm yanking the drivetrain and slapping it in the 240. That 4.8 has been one of the best motors I've ever owned. I don't drift and my knees suck, so I'd probably stay auto. Besides, I like to cruise and I'm lazy. I just want to hit the loud pedal and go fast.

Reliability= SR Price= SR Fun= Either one.. My brother and I have s14's he has an SR and I have an RB. My parts are expensive his parts are cheaper and easier to find. You want 300-400hp you can get that easy with an SR. More than that you'll have to be ready to dig deeper into your pockets. RB's are good for 300-500hp. More than that you better have some deep pockets too. I can't really say anything about VH45 because I haven't driven one yet.
