View Full Version : S14 trunk not closing properly. Please HELP!!
My trunk does not close all the way. The trunk is not originally from this s14 but I swapped it over because it was spoiler-less. Everything is lined up and it closed perfectly but then randomly this happened. I searched around and I tried different things and nothing seems to work.
Added new OEM striker
Added new OEM latch
Replaced torsion rods with OEM non-spoiler rods
I adjusted the 2 bolts on the latch
Below is a link to a video I made. You'll see that it closes but leaves a big gap. What bothers me the most is that water gets in because of this.

U can always drill further down the adjustment holes, never done it before but it might help out ur problem??

Move latch up or striker down
Move latch up or striker down
Already attempted. I even replaced the striker. Still no difference

Move latch up or striker down
Move latch down, and striker down.
Either way, you're going to have to find the equation w/ the 2.
Happy 4th bump
Someone out there help me out here

I recently fixed this on a mates s14... the latch on the chassis side, underneath was cracked on his car.... exactly the same thing was happening.
repaired/tack welded and it sat correctly.
food for thought - have a good look there.
Bump! Still haven’t resolved this issue even after replacing torsion rods, striker and latch. Anything I could be missing? Any ideas?

Have you got in the car with the back seats folded down while someone closes the trunk to determine why it wont latch?

Yup, I?ve tried that many times. So the trunk does close/ latch. The trunk just doesn?t sit flush and there is a noticeable gap

Nah the rubber bumpers on the trunk are barely even making contact.

You been sitting on it for four years. For god sale fix it or just leave it.

I?m trying to fix it. I?m cool with waiting to avoid any unnecessarily drilling.
