View Full Version : help with rear spring/shocks install... for some reason one side is lower
hey i just bought a spring/shock suspension off this guy. they are bilstein struts/shocks and some jdm springs. i just installed the rears. the drivers side is fine, but the passenger side didnt lower as much. it is like an 1 or 1.5 inches lower than the drivers side. im pretty sure i installed it correctly, but am i missing something or do something wrong? any input would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Have you driven the car around yet? Were they used?
yeah, they are used. apparently only the rear drivers is lower by like .5 to .75 inch. the other 3 are even drop. i think its my mis matched tires tho. ima go switch around the tires to see if thats the case. any one have any ideas?

I had the opposite problem with my sport lines.....The front passenger side was 1/4 inch higher than the rest of the car.....I called Nissan motorsports tech line (cause I can HAHA) And they sent me a TSB (Technical service bulletin) about the desighn of the 240sx/silvia/180sx, saying that the front passenger side rode higher for more even weight distribution with a passenger, so I looked at a stock 240 at the shop and low and behold the thing sat higher on the front pass. side.....
Maybe that has something to do with it? maybe you have a blown strut, maybe youi have a sagging spring.....?
hmm, so just at first i swithed over the rims and its the same thing. the corner is around half an inch lower. maybe its because its from japan with their right hand drive cars. im not really sure.
so how do i know if the shock is blown? there arent fluids comming out of it or anything. maybe i'll swith over the rear pass to the rear drivers and see if its the same problem. but i'll do it next week. i just might get some tein stecs springs later on or maybe some coilovers later down the road. thanks for your responce tho

You can pull the spring off and check rebound on the shock. If it feels weak or doesn't rebound at all, it's blown. A blown shock would definitely sag a little.

Check your shock or make sure that they are not cut springs. Thats all i can think of. hope this helps
