I'd be very concerned about HOW your cam broke? did you have the head off recently?

no the car was revving and then just stopped... i turned the car off immediately "ignition switch" and checked the timing. I rotated the engine from the crank and everything seems to still be in tact.

Show us pictures of the broken cam/ gear. You couldn't possibly stop the engine/with the ignition immediately. (The instant that you broken the cam/gear.) Speed of sound!
BTW that's what an engine does rev, so if it just broke while revving, it was either faulty or installed incorrectly.

Even if you are lucky enough not to have any damage you should, make it common practice to inspect every aspect of the head.

ps alot of these new post don't even sound smart

WHAT DID YOU ACTUALLY TURN OFF IMMEDIATELY? your radio?:2f2f:

You don't need adjustable gears is what people are saying. There are plenty of people parting motors out, purchase their gears/bolt and be back on the road in no time.

got it... i will check and see if i see any listed for sale. I would rather have new one because the ones that i had on the car looked fine but just gave way.

wait, so the CAM broke? or the GEAR broke?
you need to find out what CAUSED the break instead of just replacing parts

Did you check compression, because your motor is fucked.

I snapped a tomei 272 cam right at the gear, peace out valves

i have to post the pic later tonight when i get home. i can check compression but everything seems fine... The car still turns over and sounds like it will start but the cant because the exhaust cams are not turning. I am hoping thigs are fine...

I doubt your cam broke and nothing else was affected by this. There IS an issue somewhere, it wasn't just a faulty manufactured gear or something.
