Does anyone know how a cas trigger wheel will line uo when the cas is timed properly?

there are no adjustment marks on the trigger wheel there are 3 dots near the gear, 2 that rotate with the gear on the shaft and one that stays stationary, one of the dots lines up when you plug the cas in and as the cas turns on the helical gear as it is inserted the stationary dot lines up with the second moveable dot, if you don't have a dot lined up before and the second dot lined up after install your cas is not set right

Yup, pull the valvecover and check that the second dot on the gear is lined up with the stationary mark while the Numer #1 cylinder is at TDC on the compression stroke.

no you need to pull the valve cover and look down inside the timing area where the cas gear meshes with the cam gear

you did say trigger wheel right? rhetorical ?
set engine to tdc with stock cas installed correctly. remove the cas cover, take note of the position.
ignition timing is set afterwards so that's why there's a few degrees difference. that's why you take note of the position.

you cant set the timing by using the trigger wheel I think that's what hes trying to do that's the only reason to ask about the trigger wheel alignment, hes trying to skimp out and find an easier way to install the cas without taking the valve cover off which will be very difficult unless he gets lucky
