The engine isn't the limiting factor. The 240SX rear suspension would bottom out quickly if you tried to pull any sort of large trailer.

Towing capacity on new 4cyl frontiers is around 2000lbs. With the V6 it's about 5000lbs.
So with the KA it could tow bikes, but not any normal car. They're nice trucks though.

Never thought about ...always borrowed Pops's truck for any towing.

I have a 04 mazda b3000 (v6). It can tow maybe 2000lbs. It starts crapping out with 1500lbs. Then again, it was made by Ford, and that should explain the 140hp 'n' 180tq out of the 3L V6.

that's funny, i've seen 4 cyl rangers tow 10Klbs loads when set up right. i know mine could tow a 2600lb car on a 1000lb trailor but the problem isn't the motor. the hangup would be what my friend spike so eloquently referred to as it not having "enough ass" to comfortably tow anything major.

note: the 4cyl pulled that load at like 45mph, definately not highway speeds.

Your right. My 1500lbs were 3Ka's and two trannies in the bed. The back was slammed. I did not trust driving like that so took out one of the ka's cosest to the tail gate out. I still had to start off by putting it in 1'st then 2nd then D. Then again, I picked up a rb20 clip (1200lbs?) plus an all metal trailer (500-800lbs?) Plus a rb26 and tranny, (700lbs?) plus a passenger (160lbs). And i was going 70mph on the freeway. 2800lbs. Your right, its how you balance the weight. (trailer).

why don't you just buy a junked school bus (this is my wishful thinking plan when I get back to the states), cut off the rear wall and connect some 5000lbs tiedowns to the frame in the back. Put airbags on the rear sus., and use ramps to load the car. Now if your feelin froggy, get a beefy V8 diesel and slap a couple of snails on it, weld up the windows and put a hydraulic ramp in the back. I learned this from a guy in NC who used to dirt circle, and this is pretty much a snazzied up version of what he had. I hope to have a track queen when I get back, so this is hopefully in my plans.

I think it would just be cheaper to get an F150 or Ram instead of doing that....

yeah, it might be, but do either of those also have the room for a bed, all your tools, some living space and the pimp factor if you welded up all the windows and painted it w/ your colors. I tinx not. Price could be from a couple G's starting to whatever your billionare wallet will get you. You can get old buses from auction lots and various other places for cheap, and as for an engine, you are really limitless as to what you could stuff in there.

i'm going to be buying a new F150 within a year for the explicit purpose of hauling the car and gear to places. it's ALL about balance. how much you haul is not the same as how much you can pull, like snail said.
