Not sure when it was last tagged. But as opposed to common belief, a new owner does not have to pay the back fees if they did not occur during the new owners possession. Of course the DMV lady won't just tell you this, but if you tell them, it works. Look it up on their website.

Where on the DMV website do you see that back fees from a previous owner dont have to be paid? The DMV wants their pound of flesh no matter where it comes from.
