Hey guys, I've searched for an answer and couldnt find what I was looking for. I have an s14 sr20det, and the thoughts of tuning it have crossed my mind. I was looking at getting my ecu flashed by RS Enthalpy, but I'm wondering if it's worth it? I know Martins tuning is good. But for my current set up I'm just wondering if tuning will really open up the car more??
I dont really plan on getting bigger injectors or cams or anything like that. Just gonna keep the engine stock. These are the mods I have currently. Will I get a little more power from a tune?? without cams, or a bigger turbo or bigger injectors? Any input would be appreciated.
Boost Max is currently at 11psi at WOT.
AFR ratios are
14-15 during regular driving.
10-11 during WOT.
•S14 sr20 swap done right (by previous owner): Replaced all gaskets and seals, intake manifold, Tomei exhaust manifold, Circuit Sports down pipe
•New Cometic metal head gasket, new ARP head studs, resurfaced head, new oil pump and oil pressure sensor, and Circuit Sports rocker arm stoppers
•Stock T28 Turbo
•Wiring harness by wiring specialties
•Greddy FMIC and piping with new HKS SSQV
•SPEC stage 2 clutch
•New clutch master cylinder ss clutch line and slave cylinder
•DriveShaft Shop aluminum driveshaft
•Koyo aluminum radiator
•Altima dual e-fans
•Full 3" turbo back Exhaust

Stock SR20DET tune is notoriously pig rich, which is evident by your low AFR at WOT. Very very safe from the factory, but that leaves some power on the table.
You won't get crazy gains by getting a tune, however at the same time if you have no plans to upgrade in the future I personally would get it tuned. Your exhaust and possibly turbo itself (depending on dimensions) will benefit from a tune alone.

Thanks Frank!!! Appreciate that!! I was initially going to do a Power FC and have it tuned, but I realized the engine is pretty much stock, so I don't think there would be much purpose for it not to mention spending close to $1000 for the Power Fc and Tune combined.
Came across the enthalpy tune and saw how everyone loved it, and wasn't too expensive so I thought about it. The 240 is my daily, so longevity is something I'm really keeping in mind. Just wanted to get a little more kick outta the engine with possibly a tune if possible. Thanks for the input!

Do it . Not to mention he has awesome turnaround times (send the ecu without the brackets) so he can priority ship it back it

Even when you get new parts he can do a retune for it

you can gain a bit 10~Hp doing this. Its just not safe to push the limit on anything you care about in general, and enthalpy knows that. most of your power increase with these engines comes from larger turbochargers. often the one stock on the engine is old and worn out, with unknown mileage, and thats your biggest block to power increase.
if you want more power 100+ you have to upgrade the turbo. And that means bigger injectors also. Which means you have to get the ECU re-tuned again.

Martin does life time retune at no cost so getting started now will be worth it imo...

That is absolutely not true.

Your money would be better spent on an HKS adjustable waste gate actuator and a boost gauge.
Crank your boost to 11psi.
Also what you've failed to note is Enthalpy tunes only work with Z32 maf.

Z32 maf
550 injectors
Enthalpy tune (base)
260 whp + or - depending on air density
Worth every penny!
I've been beating the crap out of my sr for 10 years. 100k + miles
Enthalpy is the shit!

I'd say for a bone stock sr with fmic and exhaust no, but if you want like 300-400 rs is fine, anything above that then get a dyno tune. Of course a 300hp dyno tune is fine tooo but martins done so many he knows whats up. I made 315whp with an hks gt-ss 550's and a z32 maf on his ecu. Car runs awesome too!
