look at the event as practice.
thats what i do.
my 2nd time ever drifting, was in a competition.
hahah. that was great.
it forces you to do things that you havent done before.
and you dont want to look super suck, so you try hard.

Also got a chance to hang out with Moto and Naoki one night and Moto said it best, don't look at it as a competition but rather a festival.
The event is a competition but the first half of the day is a practice, and if you lose in the competition there is a second practice track that you can play in for the rest of the day. With a 30 driver cap and probably half will be in or watching the competiton you will have a field day in the practice track.
Also if you go to watch you won't learn much just watching, the pro drivers will be glad to let you get ride alongs and help you out, same goes for me and all the other local drivers.
There is liek 3 or so more spots left so make a decision.
I am most interested in seeing this one Japanese guy that moved out to the midwest with a Cobra, new to drifting but did pretty good at one of the Chicago Drift Days

i just went out. drifted most of the day in the practice.
did my 2 judged runs and that was it.
had a lot of fun.
learned.
done and done.
