what this means is unless you have a stock car with no tints and front and rear plates on your car and dont drive like an idiot crossing yellows you will be ok but if you have anything modified ---------anything. do-not go here anymore.

As a result of persistent problems with unsafe driving and loitering, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors voted to prohibit vehicles from stopping at any time along both sides of Mulholland Highway in an unincorporated area south of Agoura Hills between Seminole Drive and just east of Kanan Road.

The restrictions affecting a two-mile stretch of the curvy canyon road, referred to by car and motorcycle enthusiasts as “the snake,” will take effect in about 45 days when new “No Stopping Anytime” signs are posted.

Supervisor Sheila Kuehl spearheaded the change in collaboration with area residents to help the California Highway Patrol and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in their efforts to stop reckless driving along the scenic highway in the heart of the Santa Monica Mountains.

Parking at a spot called “the lookout” on the south side of Mulholland about a quarter of a mile east of Kanan Road will be allowed, but limited to one hour between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m.

In a letter to the Board of Supervisors, Kim Lamorie, president of the Las Virgenes Homeowners Federation, said accidents from unlawful motorcycle and car “speeding competitions” and activities on the snake stretch of Mulholland have been increasing at an alarming rate, with motorcycle crashes and overturned cars endangering all.

“They run motorists off the road,” Lamorie said. “To make matters worse, crowds gather roadside to watch the dangerous spectacle and illicit racing. The situation has clearly elevated to out of control.”

For years, onlookers have been gathering along the snake to watch the parade of cars and motorcycles navigate the turns. Many drivers show off and make moves, CHP Officer Leland Tang said.

“We’re trying to get a handle on this because it’s now a destination for car and motorcycle club members and others who have been turning the area into a racetrack. People who go there come from all over the state, and sometimes all over the country. They are making dangerous U-turns and cutting people off. They park their vehicles on the side, chit chat and encourage each other to push their limits,” Tang said.“They have taken that stretch of roadway over to the point where a family that wants to take a Sunday drive to enjoy the scenic highway can’t. It’s like taking a Sunday drive on the Willow Springs racetrack,” the officer said, adding that social media in recent years has made matters worse.

The new rule will prohibit stopping at any time along both sides of the two-way canyon road just east of Kanan Road and on to Seminole Drive. Parking at “the lookout” will be limited to one hour.

Hmm weird, drove thru in May in my low, loud, limo lint, no front plate g35 and nothing happened. But maybe cause I can't drive fast due to fitment. Even lost a front side marker on the highway hah.

Road looks a lot wider and driveable on youtube, was terribly disappointed.

Time for people to try out 33 through Ojai. Killer roads and no one around.
