Is it a good idea to apply it to fresh paint? My paint is about 3 weeks old. Or how long should I wait before I get it applied? I'm thinking about getting either 3m or X-Pel. Is one better than the other? Why? Thanx for any help...

Give it more time for the paint to cure. 3M makes/produces 99% of the films sold, it's just whored out to other companies and renamed. I used to install it at a window tint shop, it's a great idea but the hardest thing ever to install, and there's no gaurantee the kit will be cut right or the install will go smoothly. A lot of risks for the price.

I contacted the shop and they told me to wait atleast 3-6 weeks to cure. I'm aware that it might not be cut right to fit the car, that's why I want to look for a installer that gaurantees their work(hopefully). The shop that tinted my windows gauranteed that it would be free of bubbles or imperfections. Otherwise I might rethink getting the whole thing done.

So I've been doin a little research and x-pel uses 3m's film. I'm gonna go around to installers to check out samples.

baked... but I'll let it cure for atleast the 6 weeks as the shop recommends.

I don't have any pics. It's stock cobalt green. Not a real headturning color. My car is camera shy, but maybe I'll snap a few at the bar b q this weekend.
