Just finishing up my auto to 5 speed conversion on my 1995 S14 w/ KA24DE. I'm using an S13 5 speed M/T, XTD light weight flywheel, ACT HD clutch kit, new clutch master cylinder, new slave cylinder, and clutch system is properly bled.

Problem: Transmission in gear even in neutral. Speedo reads 40mph, rear wheels spin very fast (cannot stop by hand).

If i step on the brakes, of course the rear wheels stop spinning and the speedo drops, but as soon as I let off the brake it literally jumps right back up to 40mph and rear wheels start going. If I push the clutch pedal in the clutch disengages like it should.

Not sure if the synchros in the tranny are just done causing it to lock up on other gearing?

One of the gear synchros is locked up or the shift linkage is bent/incorrectly installed and pushing on a synchro. Does it shift into any of the gears?

Bent shift fork is a possibility as well. Do you know the history of the transmission? Has it been sitting around with no fluid which would allow rusting?

is this with the wheels in the air?

I was thinking the same thing just wanted confirmation. It does shift into a few gears, however, doesn't go into 5th or reverse. 3rd gear is EXTREMELY hard to get into.

Clutch fork is perfect as it's brand new, appreciate the help. I do not know the history of the transmission unfortunately, but it has been sitting for a bit yes without much fluid. I did do a tranny flush and it was pretty damn gunky oil that came out.

This video was with the wheels in the air yes. Only reason I put it in the air was because starting in neutral with the wheels on the ground also caused the car to jump forward which was very odd as it's in neutral.

Yeah as stated before, something inside is pressed against something else. time to rebuild or renew.

Best of luck

Roger that. Purchased another tranny yesterday and Will more than likely get around to installing it tomorrow. Thanks for the help guys, will let you know how it goes.

Had some time today to remove the s13 tranny that's giving me problems! Picked another one up last night in super excellent condition with all sensors, clutch fork, TOB, shifte, AND crossmember/mount. Decided since the tranny was already out I would drill the hole for the S14 crank angle sensor into the bell housing. Also flocked the dash.

Made my "template" for drilling the CAS. 9/16" back from end of bellhousing (where it meets the block) & 1" from nearest bolt hole.

Need to get some washers/spacers to raise the sensor up.

No you can't just put the sensor anywhere lol. Took measurements from the auto tranny that was previously in here, and applied to my M/T. Gotta also add a spacer/washer to raise it a tad.

Everything is working perfectly as should with the "new" tranny I installed! Old one was a POS and had synchros all locked up. Too bad I don't remember who I purchased it from here on the forums, would definitely put him on blast as he told me "everything works perfect bro"
