first off, after swapping to a 3" catback, (stock cat for now until im turboed, then i will throw on the test pipe!), and an injen intake on my 89 sohc, i have started to get a CEL intermitantly on the freeway, this only seems to happen when im on the freeway, or at least in 5th gear, ive seen it happen from as slow at 55-60mph and as fast as 70mph (havent cruised a lot faster yet)...
\

it will come on for a few minutes and then turn off. no appearent rhyme or reason for it. i dont know how to diagnose the light (on my accord i could look at the ECU under the seat and the number of blinks in the light would tell me the problem, but im not sure if its a similar setup on this car.

anyway, after changing my mods, i have not yet reset the ECU, could this be throwing off my MAF and causing it to trip a cel every once in a while? car seems to run the same either way...

and the real question:
i plan on running single cam turbo in a few months. i am planning on a low boost setup 5-7psi on the old 130k mile motor, but im buying a friends old ka24e that i will rebuild/build for a bit more boost.

so far i have looked around quite a bit, but havent found much on engine management for a single cam turbo setup. obviouslsy i could use an e-manage or an EMS or a tec3, or a JWT chip, but what kind of STANDALONE TUNABLE options do i have? i really like the idea of a fully tunable setup, but i dont honestly think that i will need that much.

the plan for the car, with the built motor is:
aftermarket pistons
stock shot peened rods
balanced crank
better main and rod bearings
high flow oil pump

cam, valve springs, 3angle valve grind, and some PnP work on the head.

ill be running a t3/to4e turbo, but i might buy seans (XXX4life?) turbo which is a innovative t3 stage 5 .63 a/r turbine gt40 compressor wheel.

my plan is for like 300whp RELIABLE TOTALLY RELIABLE.

what do you guys suggest for something to keep this engine safe...
i have been told that e-manage basically sucks, but i dont really think i need to drop 2000-3000 on engine management for like 15-18psi on a built motor with hp goals like 300whp//

suggestions?
