Hey guys,

It's starting to get hotter here and I've noticed a weird issue with my sr20det it.

Normally it runs pretty cool, maybe 167f coolant and 185f oil, however recently the temps started going up.

I took the car off the road and replaced the water pump, thermostat, coolant temp sensor and fans.

I drove the car today and on the freeway it was reaching temps of around 200 for coolant and 210 for oil.

Here's the weird thing, I did a pretty big pull, maybe 4th gear to red line, I look down and the temps have dropped right down. Like 40 degrees lower in the coolant and the oil starts to drop down as a result.

Anyone got any idea why it would do that? Now whenever it starts getting hot I do a pull or a skid and it'll start getting cool again!

Any help would be great!

Possible air in system - Burp it out using a funnel and an elevated front end.

Possible bad rad cap - Not holding pressure steady.

Possible bad/missing thermostat - Thermo could be going wacky on you opening and closing or just stuck open.

Possible failing water pump.

Possible bad head gasket.

In that order.

Thanks for the insight man!

I've replaced the pump and thermostat already. Air, Rad cap or HG...alrighty, I can work with that.
