Hey guys, I know I may get flamed for making a post for this but I need some help, and let me preface all this by saying I'm only doing it because mine has been hacked beyond repair.

I've gotten to the wiring stage of my build and want to strip my old body harness and either go full DIY or heavily modify the stock one.

I only plan on running the bare basics and I am eliminating stuff like HVAC.

Is there any build thread in specific I should be looking at for a rough guideline? I'm not asking for a step by step, just something to help base a design off of.

Thank you!

Look at Big Mike's build. He just got a body/chassis harness from Faction. You can either base yours off of theirs or buy theirs. Looks to be a great start for someone that doesn't want any creature comforts.

My friend stripped his down just over the past couple months, removed shielding and deleted HVAC wires, seatbelts, unnecessary things like that. It took a while tracing every single wire like headlight motors down to the wires, keeping the right relays, and then making sure you left the stuff you needed light headlight bulbs, the headlight switches and stuff you still need. I wouldn't go that route unless you're up for that kind of project. We ended up deleting whole wires and shaved about 40 lbs. So worth it in the end though. Good luck.

I forgot I started this thread lol,

anyways here's my progress. I'm running an ARC 8000 and a Wiring Specialties Pro SR20det harness so it's been pretty easy, the basics are done, I just need to do brake and reverse lights and some other misc stuff.

I need to get a full res interior shot in the daylight, but I'll be running all Autometer gauges (I know they don't match I'm working on that) and wiring up other things such as my wideband and other goodies.

For around $200 you cant go wrong, it's stupidly simple and very clean.

Hey everyone, Just wanna start out by saying im a HUGE newbie when it comes to this stuff. Currently purchased an Rb25 for my S12 Chassis, the motor is on the way and I will be purchasing the wiring specialists pro harness as well. The chassis harness on my S13 is beyond repair, the dude before me literally took a grinder and went to town. My question is, does the ARC 8000 make things easier? I know this sounds stupid but from looking at the pictures. It looks like a switch panel with some relays? What did they do differently that would be worth getting this instead of a painless system? Also can someone explain to me what all is need to get the car running and driveable? this is strictly a drift car so all i need is the essentials. Thanks again everyone, and sorry for being such a newb.

As far as getting a car running, minimums would be battery positive to starter motor and negative to chassis, and engine to chassis. Then a switch coming off the starter signal wire.

Also power and a switch to your fuel pump, as well as electric radiator fans.

YES, the Arc unit will make life easier. Instead of you having to wire up all those switches and relays, it comes wired up and all you have to do it plug in the wires. There's not any real advantage of choosing arc over painless or any other brand like Ron Francis, they all do the same things. But remember the more complete a switch panel or wiring harness is, the more you'll pay for it.
