So my hood release cable snapped where it connected to the "hood lock release mechanism" and now the hood is stuck shut. I pulled on the hood release lever until it came out of its sleeve.
Has this ever happened to anyone? Is there any way to open my hood now without cutting it?

It happened to me before. I drilled holes on the grill to see inside the hood latch. Then poke the latching thingy by a flat long screw driver till it pop open. I forgot which way to to pry it, upwards or towards left to right?!? Good luck!

Can you open your hood and take a picture of where you were poking the screwdriver? Please

Alright I'll take pictures and PM you. I remember now drilling holes and cutting pieces on the grill, then unbolted the 3 bolt for the latch with a socket and combinatiin wrench. Then comes right off with the hood. Once its off, behind the latch you'll see where the latching mechanism with a spring on. Pull that with a flat screw driver or a needle nose pliers until it pops off.
After cutting the grill, you can cut it around nicely then mesh it behind, now you have a jdm style grill.

if part of the cable is sticking out, try grabbing some vicegrips and pull the mf

I went through the grill and just unbolted the entire mechanism from the core support
