I got an estimate on fixing all the dents, rust and scratches and a new paint job for my 240 and its going to be $220 for the same color and, if they do it another color it will be $2500. Should I spend that kind of money to get it fixed. It's a 1990.
220 to paint the same color and different color is 2500? wow thats a big difference, i hope you meant 2200

if you color change, do the door jams n engine bay for the love of god
if i had the choice of buying 2500 dollars worth of barbie dolls, or 2500 for a new paintjob i'd go with the paintjob but it would be a tough choice

Thats why he said that it would $2500 for a different color because he would have to paint the engine bay, the door jams and everything.

ehhh.. depends.. If your car was black, then it won't really matter. Or just spray paint the engine bay Gloss Primer Gray (functional)
I do think that door jams need to be repainted to match a color change.. otherwise it just looks funky.
Worst I've seen was a red car repainted yellow. jams, and engine bay left alone.. -puke-

just get the rust problems fixed, but don't paint the car..
i honestly think it's a waste.. sometimes you just have to let things go.
look at my 240, it doesn't have the nicest white paint out there, kinda yellow and black in some spots, but i don't care. as long as it drives..
that $2,000 could be used elsewhere, or saved for something important.
good luck.
