I think the driveshaft is the problem, I just did a 5sp swap on my '95 se with vlsd/abs and I couldnt find a s14 driveshaft off of a vlsd car so someone told me I could just swap out the front section from the 5sp shaft with the auto shaft and keep the vlsd rear section, well sounded like a great idea so I bought a non vlsd shaft and swaped the front sections, problem is now at low speeds the shaft binds up because it is about 1/8-1/4 too long, any ideas on how I can fix this? do you think a local driveshaft shop in socal could make me a custom shaft?

I'm sure a Driveshaft shop would be able to help, maybe even a lightweight aluminum one piece. Good luck.

thanks thats what I was thinking too, let me tell you that swap was such a bitch! I have done lots of work in the past. mostly on 3000gt's and stealths so I know what I am doing but everything that could've gone wrong did! The pilot bearing would not come out no matter what I tried, eventually I just drilled it out and beat on it till it broke and fell out. It was a serious headache. But its so much nicer with the 5sp!!!! any recomendations for good driveshaft shops in socal?

I got ahold of drivelines in orange county, if anyone is looking for a custom driveshaft. the guy was awesome to deal with and they even came out to my work, measured for the new driveshaft picked up the old one to match up the yokes and took care of all of everything I didnt have to go to the shop or anything. the shaft will be ready early wed. and they are starting on it tommorow so that is awesome turnaround.

I have all the parts for my R33 Skyline mission to put on my S-14 I had them make a 1 peice shaft for my set up, A friend of mine has this same mission in his S-13 and he has the same shaft so it is a simple and maybe a little pricey but simple.
