Ok so I've already done some research and I took note that in the 93 240s there is 2 timing chain guide plates to remove and were deemed unnecessary by Nissan. Has anyone removed the guides and had success? The noise is killing me. I have a rebuilt engine and the timing chain is new and really tight. I don't see why it would be making this noise. Just want to hear peoples experience with doing this.
Also, my drivers side automatic seat belt isnt working but passenger is. Are these easy to swap out? Could it be jammed? Any advice is good advice, new to the 240 scene.

I removed those upper timing guides and haven't had any issue's so far.
For the seat belt issue. I don't know much about fixing the stock auto seat belts but, when I had issues with mine, I just swap in some manual one's from a 200sx.

Yeah, I removed both the upper and also the middle one which was suggested. It went away for about 20 minutes then it came back. It's a rebuilt motor so I'm stumped. Guess its time for a new chain??? Can I replace the top without replacing the bottom chain? Since the top is the one making the noise I assume?

the top one on the head should go. if u removed the other one it should be replaced. pull the valve cover and if its rubbing somewhere u should be able to see it. could be a bad tensioner rub will be a nice shiny spot somewhere. no shiny spot u got a different problem

It was in the same article that if you remove the top its recommended to "remove" the 2nd one not replace. Also, while I was in there I threw a new tensioner in there so that rules that one out

by pin I assume you mean the tack they had holding it fully extended? I pulled the tack out before I put the new tensioner in. what did you mean by replaced other one on all 8 plus kas?

fyi seatbelt issue is a lifetime issue covered by Nissan if it fails., however if Nissan no longer has the parts theres a thread somewhere where Nissan wouldn't give his car back and was just gonna buy it since couldn't fix his car with used parts? (think that's what I remember)

I removed mine, haven't had a problem. Engine was a bit dirty when I bought it so I removed the guides and replaced a quart of oil with atf for a 100 miles or so. Engine is running great now.

Im having the same rattle issue. upper guide removed and i noticed the chain is hitting the valve cover now. time for new tensioner, or new upper chain?
the tensioner does move with some force.

The tensioner you posted is of the bottom timing chain. I replaced the top one already and it stopped the sound for 10 minutes before it was back again.

well if it worked for 10 minutes.....idk maybe look into low oil pressure issues. thats what im doing. cause my rattle comes and goes. and its left marks on my valve cover leading me to believe that the tensioner isnt doing its job and ive replace it. might also see how difficult it is to replace the upper chain. i have a spare short block ill practice on lol

Making sure i understand you here..... you replaced the chain to fix the issue?
Because mine have left marks on valve cover (shiny spots). I was thinking the chain has alot of slop in it. how difficult is it to replace?
my understanding without looking at the manual is,
remove tensioner
set at TDC
im going to record where the markings are on the cam sprockets.
unbolt the cam sprockets and chain should easily come off?
and put back on in reverse
