Hey all, been collecting photos of my 32 project for a while and decided to put them all together for your enjoyment and my wallet's torment.

Backstory, USAF stationed in Okinawa, got my first 32 in 2012 before they went too crazy in price.

It was a beautiful 89 Silver from mainland. Here are the photos the day I picked it up.

http://s29.postimg.org/i4pqw0x6v/IMG_0004.jpg

http://s8.postimg.org/4wlctdnmt/IMG_0005.jpg

Got the car inspected and cleaned up, did a few repairs and got to enjoy the car with my buds.

http://s18.postimg.org/90crgdt95/IMG_0296.jpg

http://s12.postimg.org/67qhghii5/IMG_0313.jpg

http://s8.postimg.org/j91h5ukf9/IMG_2634.jpg

http://s29.postimg.org/ec6qn7b47/IMG_0913.jpg

Then one day I saw a TH1 Dark Blue sitting on the base for sale lot. The car was overpriced but I wanted the color. This would be the beginning of the end for me.

http://s18.postimg.org/gj0i2r9zt/IMG_0906.jpg

So I put the silver 32 up for sale and started looking online for my next 32. (Final photos of the silver 32)

http://s11.postimg.org/rvp1k9blf/IMG_0535.jpg

http://s13.postimg.org/9yoo9hup3/IMG_0536.jpg

Sold the silver 32 for 13k making a profit of 6k or so, thinking I was set up I bought a little more rough 1991 TH1 GTR. (Photos of the car in mainland)
Car was promised in running condition with little rust. Took the dealer at their word and dropped the cash.

http://s8.postimg.org/sfjrt4pnp/P1050752.jpg

The car arrived at the port a week or so later, me excited to drive my new car, started it up took a walk around and noticed jugs of water sitting in the passenger seat. Didn't think much of it until I noticed a pool of water rolling on the ground by the engine bay. So much for driving it home, got a flat bed and got it home...

Your logic makes no sense

You had what seemed to be a good chassis that was maintained well, Wanted a different color, so instead of just paying to have the car painted the color you wanted you sold it and bought a stock R32 in shittier condition?

Woah, what's with busting the guys balls on something that happened in the past? Not to mention that he explained that he got screwed by the seller.

Well, thanks to this honest person, who has experience :2f2f:, I now know what to look out(or rather, who not to trust anyone) for when when buying a japanese car, especially from certain areas, because she tries to spread the world across this forum. Sileighty was being rather polite to say busting his balls lol...

Did you get rid of the silver one for any other reasons? Seemed like better car.

Anyways, I feel like that shit wouldn't fly in America..? Anyone have experience???? cause I wouldn't know but this guy got rather fucked lol

Silver car was nice, had a few issues that I got sorted but nothing too bad. Just love the TH1 color.

The blue car was cheap, I expected issues and like I said earlier, I turned a good profit on the silver 32.

Keep the Skyline classy.

You live and learn right?
Hindsight is 20/20 because you ended up repainting the car which you could have done with the original.

In either case, you now have the car in the colour you want.

Sorry for the cliffhanger, props for the Negan gif!

So where we last left the car was running good and everything was looking up.

One day I was driving home from work and the car just shut off. Went to restart and heard a very not normal metal on metal noise. Stopped cranking and towed the car home and started digging.

Pulled the cam covers and front cover, wasn't looking good...

Next was to ship the motor to the builder and open the checkbook

Sat down with my builder and set my expectations and budget. 500 RELIABLE horsepower. Didn't want to have to touch the motor again and wanted to freshen up everything internally.

We went with Eagle rods, Weisco pistons, .5 mil over bore, N1 oil and water pumps, Jun crank collar, Tomei oil pan baffle, Tomei engine gasket kit (including HG), APR head stud kit, Cams and cam gears, single turbo conversion!, Haltech!, upgraded 750cc injectors, 300LPH fuel pump, Orc twin clutch, Tial WG, 33 GTR transmission and a few more things I'm probably forgetting.

With everything set, dropped the longblock off and he got to disassembly.
The block would head to Tomei in mainland for a .5 mil over bore, hone and deck.

The head well..

http://s21.postimg.org/bua69p1if/IMG_4117.jpg

With all the valve guides broken the builder recommended sourcing a new head to keep us in budget. Thankfully a local friend came through with HKS cams and cam gears for $300!

Way long past due update!!

It's been a busy summer for me, not so much for my 32. As it has been sitting at the tuner's shop while he was busy working and building for drift events in mainland. But finally, some progress has been made including starting and driving this past weekend. The car is now getting a inspection tune to pass shaken next week then street tune hopefully the week after.
It was such a relief to see it run again and I'm excited to get her back home.

Also, I got orders to mainland and I'll be heading there next summer for another four years of Japan! Thinking of a 33 or NSX to accompany the 32.

Any-who, onto the photos.

Is there a reason why you didn't powder coat the rims?

No problem, its been a big project for me time and money wise. Good news is I'll be able to enjoy all the tracks in mainland!

I have a good connection with the paint shop here locally, painted my car, valve covers and now these wheels. They give me a great price and the quality is top notch. Whereas local powder-coating shop quoted me about 3 times as much as the paint job. Joys of Okinawa.

Updates! Its finally home!

After a very long wait my 32 is back home safe and sound. Picked it up early this week and have been cleaning and getting things back to the way I want.

The car is quick with low boost at 1.2 bar and high at 1.5, a little too much for Okinawan roads where the fastest limit is 80 KPH.

Currently installing some parts I had laying around and have an appointment with my detail guy to give the car a full buff and polish.

First day back home!
https://s13.postimg.org/z29sig5qv/IMG_6269.jpg

Did the oil change the next day, drive home and parked. Few hours later went to go out and meet up with a friend. Started the car and heard a weird gurgling noise, drove to the bottom of my street and noticed low oil pressure on my gauge. Shut the car off and popped the hood...

Oil everywhere! All over my freshly cleaned engine bay and brand new motor. Had the O ring blow out on a new Nissan filter.

https://s19.postimg.org/4vet9nonn/IMG_6278.jpg

And when I got back home, I knew what the gurgle noise was.
https://s19.postimg.org/tpyb3q9hv/IMG_6279.jpg

So bad had to hit up the fire department.
https://s19.postimg.org/lyhl565cj/IMG_6280.jpg

So a few pigmats, 4 quarts of oil and filter later the car was back home safe after trying to kill itself. So much for my clean bay and motor. Still getting oil of from the hood and frame rails...

Also around the same time I got my real car I picked up a very cool present from a good friend.

A miniaturized version of my 32, complete with matching paint, wheels, brakes, wing, seats, single turbo!

Engine work cost a pretty penny, tally was right under 13k out the door. Cams are HKS 256's with adjustable gears.

Got around to installing those ZLED tails last week, pretty straightforward and really bright at night.

Thanks for the very astute observations, I ordered over sized decals when I had the wheels refinished and enjoy the larger look and color. They're not cleared over so its a simple peel and restick but I not too picky there.
