if they were molded with filler or fiberglass...the only way youre going to get down to them if to start sanding...id recommend you sand down on the actual sideskirt as high up on it as you can(the highest point you know its still the sideskirt) and just keep sanding, if youre body panels were straight before the sideskirts...it mean you have to get off all the filler/fiberglass in order for it to be straight again. If youre using a DA(which id highly recommend, its going to take forever to wet sand or sand it by hand), do not sit in one spot to cause any low spots.
basically sand down through the sideskirt to get to the original panel(below the top of where they started molding the sideskirt in) and then once you get down to the original panel, knock off the rest..just sand the peice thats still left(in between where you orignally started sanding and the top of the mold)
thats the only way i know how to do it with out fucking up the straightness of the body panel...its basically a safe way to make sure you dont fuck it up.

that part that goes up the rear quater panels, what you said make sense.I couldlnt rip that off cause it cause waves in the factory area.I think the skirt thats hangin low,I can tear off with my bare hands, then sand down the rest in the door jamb. Its a bomex side skirt ona s14,if that helps any?

like i said, its basically just sanding, just getting off the material they used to mold it so its straigh with the original body panel....if youre getting new ones, are you getting those molded? if so, just let the body shop handle it, if they really want to get them straight, they'll sand it down for you. higher cut da's have a grind mod so it'll take off the old filler/fiberglass very quickly and since they'll be putting on a new sideskirt on and molding if, they'll have to restraighten that area with the filler/fiberglass to the sideskirt anyways. but anyways....good luck!

sand? get an angel grinder, a dia, and plenty of 80 grit... you're in for some fun.

imperfections? you have to redo the moldings or the original body if you dont' want your car to look like refried turds.

i had to do this exact smae thing. it was a lil time consuming but will save your body parts and car. is to take a heat gun and a real flat painters chisle thing and scrape like so. i dont kno abotu sanding it off i mean hot damn youll be there for fucking daysnad then not only that i cant imagine all the block sanding your gonna have to do after that. anyhow that worked great for me.
