Heres my dilemma, I own a z32 and someone wants to trade me for a s13. I love my z but I also love s13s. My car is pretty beat up and so is the s13, so no ground there. Give me your opinions please.

depends which one you would rather have, shouldnt matter which one somebody else wants

S13's are easier to drift and have more clearance for Hoonigan stickers.

z32s are just so damn cool tho but they are pigs in terms of sheer weight compared to the s13.

It depends on what you want to do with the car.
If you want to drift it, S13.
If you want to build it into a show or semi show car, I would keep the Z.
But, no matter what you decide to do, don't look back because you'll always ask yourself, 'what if....'

both are stupid. buy a camry, save your money and go to school (trade or otherwise). make more money, buy a stupid car to play with.
I would be a FAR richer man if I didn't mess around with cars.

I was debating this too recently. Personally, the z32 looks better than any s-chassis, when done right (which is rare AF). The weight isn't as bad as ppl make it seem. Z32 weighs about the same as other similarly powered JDM sports cars of the time, like the Supra & GTR.
Z32s problem is under the hood. The engine bay is cramped & needs a lot of work just to declutter it. The VG30DETT is a good engine, but expensive to mod because you are gonna need doubles of everything, thanks to the v configuration layout. Otherwise, you're talking about equally expensive engine swaps.
I chose to stick with the 240 because there really is no cheaper/easier car to mod, except a Miata.
Since you already have a z32, determine a goal/purpose for the car & then determine if the s13 can get you there cheaper & whether you'll actually be happy with the result.
But personally, If I had an N/A z32, I'd be gearing up for an LS7 swap.

As you said, pick whatever you like best. The weight/drifting thing is way over fucking blown. I've seen plenty of solid drifting Z32 cars and would argue the Z33 drifts better than both.
Engine? Sure VG30DETT is a bit more challenging but the OP doesn't have one.
So look at it this way.
Stock 300ZX is better looking then any stock S13/14. It even has Lambo headlights.
Stock 300ZX has bigger brakes and 5-lugs.
Stock 300zx has an extra 60hp and a stronger transmission.
Stock 300zx had nicer seats and dash.
Stock Z may also have T-tops.
Both will require engine swaps/conversions. At that point it's a wash. Plenty have put SR, RB, JZ and LS engines into a Z32.
OP needs to be realistic with his money for a project. If he's not going to have $6k to dump in the car, stick with the Z.
Throw on some $800 coils, weld the diff, get some cheap wheels and exhaust, winner.

Z32s are WAY nicer and cooler than S13s.

My friend has an n/a z32 and I have a 240 (s14 but still) i have driven his car in many different situations including on the track and to be honest i would never give my 240 up for a Z. It just feels so much more raw and responsive. The weight difference is pretty noticable to me and everytime i drive his Z, i cant wait to get back in my 240. Plus working on Z's sucks compared to working on a 240. The parts are a lot more expensive and there is just more of everything. So taking all I have experienced with them side by side, its 240 for me everytime

1. Keep your N/A Z32.
2. Build a monster KA-T and swap it in.
3. ????
4. Profit!

Z32 is by far a superior chassis. Don't be silly.

Here's 2 pictures of cars you probably can't build on a budget (especially that of a student). Pick which one looks better and THAT's what you go with. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Diablos aren't cool enough to have dem kickass 240 lights. those flush headlights are ugly as hell.
I can see why you like them though, they are basically the Goth girl of headlights

The Zs headlights aren't the problem. It's the nose panel. But meh. It's functional.
