Do you guys know of any potential problems that might exist with the s13 with the non power sun roofs? basically the ones that pop open?

mine is held up by 2 flimsy pieces that holds the sunroof in the up position, those 2 little pieces fall out easily....

there was a shade that came with the pop-up sun roofs. I have mine in my closet cause I never use it.
There are several ways to fix the whistling. If I'm on the freeway, andit bothers me, I usually just pull the latch down so that it binds b/w opening and closing, and it tightens it enough to shut it up completely. Of course, if I hit a big bump, it usually pops open, and I have to reset it.

`90 s13... mine is shot to hell.
the seals went bad, were whistling, then water started to occasionally drip in on hard turns or angled driveways. then, the handle broke. i got pissed off so much that i permanently sealed it onto the roof (for now), until i purchase my new sunroof.
i've been eyeing the ones 350Z owners use, made by webasto (http://www.webasto.us/am/en/am_auto_sunroofs.html)
im so sick of cheap shit.

you can easily fix the whistling by using a couple washers under the bolts that mount the latch. it then gets tighter when you pull it down so it seals better and stops the whisting. As far as deteriorated seals go, preventative maintainence goes a long way (use rubber conditioner, etc) but if yours is shot you can use some clear water proof glue to glue it back together. I did that in my hatch and the seal stopped leaking and stayed that way for the next couple years before I got rid of it.
I liked my pop up because it gave me so much head room. My coupe has a power moon roof and as nice as it is to have the power stuff, 1) it cuts into my headroom, and 2) you can just pop it up a little like you can with the pop up roof, on a chilly day where you just want some breeze.
