Hi :wavey: . I've been trolling alot lately and I have a few questions about going TURBO on a SOHC. What are THE RISK of having it on a SOHC? If there is a risk, is it gonna be a MAJOR PROBLEM? How can u fix this problem?
If you're answering any of the questions above, I would like to know where u got your resources. Just wanna be sure is all :D. I WANNA TURBO so bad, but I think I lack "google skills". THX.

There are a few people that have done the SOHC turbo. That is actually the route I will probably go with my KA24E. There's one guy on the 240sx Forums that has the SOHC Turbo, but he won't tell anyone what his setup is.

a lot of ka24ets i see are done with a small budget, thats cool and all but whatever you do, dont skimp out on the fuel. get a lot of gauges. oh and definetly get a compression and leak down test before you do, i was pretty close to turboing but decided to wait until i can afford a rebuild or a new engine, as the compression was 150 on all 4.

THE RISK: Old motor-- make certain it is in good shape before doing anything to stress it further. The KA can handle turbo, it's been proven many times, just make sure you know what you are doing
MAJOR PROBLEM: There can be a lot of major problems if it's done wrong. You name an engine component, some aspect of turbocharging (or anything that will boost performance) could cause it to go wrong.
To fix it, know what you are doing. It looks like you have some research to do. We can help you a bit here, but you will need to learn some google skills. Vague general questions are hard to answer and only tend to piss people off and get you flamed. At the very least, get Maximum Boost, a book by Corky Bell. It will learn you lots. When you ask, be have a specific question about a specific problem. Even better if you have a specific solution you are working on :P

Gladman, how much did you spend on your KA-T, if you don't mind my asking? Total up everything from engine rebuild, new internals if you added them, and the whole turbo setup. Just want a price guess that you paid so I can know what to expect.

THX misnomer. I'll be sure to do a lil more research and be more specific in the future :D
Perhaps I should've asked, "what is the most common problem?"
