ive got 205/50/r15s on my s13 and it looks ok. It makes the car sit a tad lower which i like, but it does increase wheelgap a little bit. I like it, its worth the smaller sidwally. Besides, once the d2's go on, the wheelgap will be no more

Sure it is, and I quote, "lowered" on Eibach Prokits. (which don't lower your car unless you have the ancient type)
So yeah. Don't do it until you lower your car. That's my car by the way before I got better wheels. Imagine the horror as I walked out of America's Tire Co.

I forgot what series they are, but anything low pro on 15 looks like poo.. I actually perfer high profile on smaller wheels.

Yes, and shitty Ziex tires.

azenis > ziex
205/60/15 > 205/50/15
decisions decisions.
depends on if you'll need stickier tires.
in mr badlose's case, he did, since he autoxes and goes to the track.
i just needed new tires cuz mine got all shredded up.

it looks hiddeous. I run 205/50/15s for autoX, I can get them dirt cheap from friends and they have less sidewall flex/shorter gearing/slightly lower CG and they make non-shitty tires in the 50 series size.
Here is a comparison between my 205/60/15s and 205/50/15s on my stock 89 hatch.

add .orig.jpg to the end of each image to read the tape measure.... its about 4.5" of wheel gap with the 205/50s
now that I have removed the AC there is about an 11 foot wheel gap :D

PS: SEARCH! I know I have asked this question before.

I got 205/50/15 azenis mounted on my aftermarket 15's an the wheel gap isnt bad,it just leave alot of area open in the wheel well.I have tein he's an got the car down to a 1 1/2 finger gap all around an it looks decent.Only issue is the wheels look smaller now.But hey, performance far succeeds looks in my book.

Threads like this make me laugh.
"OMG, I am SO scared my car might look even a TINY bit uncool, so I MUST sacrifice performance for looks."
I run 205/50R-15 Falken Azenis Sports and I'm happy.

There are performance compromises in this tire size, too. A taller tire has more contact patch. It also makes the gearing shorter, which could be good, could be bad.
The Falken Azenis isn't the only good street tire.
I loved the grip my last S13 had on 205/60-15 Yokohama AVS Intermediates. Great tires, too bad they stopped making them.

A taller tire makes the gearing longer, thus decreasing acceleration. A taller tire weighs more, increasing unsprung weight. A taller tire will roll under more. Yadda yadda yadda.

I doubt there is any meaningful difference in surface area on a 60mm tire compared to a 50mm tire.
