Shooting fire out the exhaust?

I saw a skyline doing that before take off.  It sounded like loud pops everytime fire shot out for a brief second from the exhaust.  What makes that happen.  And is it beneficial?  Just curious.

Well, it can be done by putting a spark plug in the tail pipe, and running the engine slightly rich. That's how most people do it

The other way to achive this, is to remove the cat, and have an engine powerful enough to blow the exhaust out before it burns completely, it's called blowby.

turbo'ed cars adjusted all the way rich blow fire all the time, the unburnt fuel is heated by the hot exhaust pipe and fire shoots out.

OK. &nbsp;So you would need a way to power the spark plug. &nbsp;This usually involves a spark plug wire run to a battery's positive terminal. &nbsp;So a relocated battery is a must, with custom plug wire. &nbsp;And woe be the man who says &quot;There is somethin stuck in yer exhaust tube. &nbsp;Lemme git that!&quot; &nbsp;ZAP! ZAP!

uh, they actually sell kits for fire out the tailpipes at hot rod shows and such. You actually dont need to move your battery at all with the kit. I saw an old 54 bel air with 2 kits, one for each tail pipe, it shot 2 foot flames from each one. I think the skyline may have had a two step on it. This is used to stage a car, almost like a stall converter. You can turn it on, floor the car and whatever you have it set at, the rpms will not exceed. This allows you to leave the line at the same rpms and in boost. It is almost like an adjustable rev limiter, and when it is being used on my buddy's car fire shoots out from his exhaust.

I did it in my Corvette without buying a kit. &nbsp;I was just saying... it was cheap, I did it personally, and it looked cool. &nbsp;My car ran rich anyway, with 515 crank hp, and the flames were a friends idea. &nbsp;We figured a cheap way. &nbsp;Relocate battery, get custom plug wires, and tap in a spark plug into the tip.

dragon fire (of japan) sells a kit that you install in your car (pratically any car) and you can shoot out flames up too 16 inches. &nbsp;you can turn it on and off with a flick of a switch. &nbsp;Much easier that way and no need to waste gas all the time by running rich.

the flames could also be cause of nitrous
and a friend of mine was taking about a a exhaust that u can buy that shoots flames after 7000rpm's
dont know if it is true??
i have not looked for it my self my car turns enought heads as it is.
I dont need flames shooting out of the exhaust LOL
