View Full Version : does the s14 have parking lights?

just picked up an s14 and need some help passing inspection. when turning the knob one click, no exterior lights come on, only the dash lighting. then the 2nd click turns the low beams on. i don't see any other sockets on the headlights, but the low and high beams do work. i'm told the car was originally zenki converted to kouki. the car does have aftermarket HIDs, so i thought maybe it's supposed to have dual stage bulbs or something? or maybe there just aren't parking lights? help please!

also do all koukis have projectors? mine doesn't have projectors. are they aftermarket or is it just a rare oem configuration?

No parking lights on us 240sx. Yes all koukis had projectors.

hey thanks very much for the response! i guess my car must have some aftermarket headlights then.

more importantly, no parking lights?! in a way this a relief, but in my failed inspection i believe they're looking for parking lights...

Sorry I miss read this. Yes it should have all exterior lights lit (except headlights on the first turn on the light switch. Either the light switch is bad or something is funky with the wiring.

Ah thanks for clearing that up! So after a bunch more research, I think that the corner lights are supposed to be the parking lights? Could u confirm this? Currently they're wired as blinkers. I've read that s13 corners are for dual filament, will fit the s14 corners, and I could splice those in. Could u or someone confirm this as well? Seems like a cheaper option than buying the bumper lenses and the inspectors don't know or care the difference.

correct, corner lights are parking lights and the rear tail lights also have parking lights.

far right bulb in this picture is a parking lamp that JDM lights do not have:

and far left in this one is also a parking lamp.

both of these should turn on on the first click of the turning stalk/lights. your dash is lighting up and your parking lights should also light up.
