Anyone using Delrin mounts? Streetable?

So yeah my mounts are busted on the s13 (ka24de) and I've been researching a lot on the performance mounts available. I use the car for daily to work but also beat on it like crazy and touge a lot on the weekends. Comfort is not an issue as I prefer performance > . I realize that solid mounts cause pronounced vibration throughout the car but that would not bother me. The thing I want to know is, do things really start shaking loose? i.e. I read about some guy losing 3 bellhousing bolts and having to lock tite every small bolt. Is it really that bad? I'd like to hear responses on ppl that actually have/had them installed and genuine information. There's plenty of "I heard" and "I imagine" on the Internet but almost no reviews from ppl actually running them.

I wouldn't as a daily. Get the stiffer drift freaq mounts.


I did full aluminum ....it lasted not even one week lol

The S chassis are old and loose so much rattles and the engines are not the smoothest running. Driving it daily sounded like my car was falling apart. I heard vibrations from stunfortunately I've never heard before

Yeah. Honestly I just ordered them along with a delrin tranny mount. I will try them out as they are cheap to start with. I don't want oem and nismo I've seen are a tad stiff but get just as jellylike after a year of hard abuse. I want to know if shit will start falling off with delrin mounts or if it's just vibration issues. I will be doing a review on them throug a performance and daily viewpoint and a drivabilty report as well when they come in and are installed this week. If anyone still wants to chime in on this to help me as well as future readers on this topic it would be awesome..!

It did feel nice to not have the motor bouncing around but the noises were so loud it was like I had no header

I run them know and have so for 6-7yrs. Yes there is vibration you hear and feel everything. No problems with bolts or nuts and the transfer of power is almost instant or instant you definitely don't see the engine twist anymore. Not really recommend for daily, dfm's would be a better option.

Ever have to retighten bolts or screws in that time you've had them? Or any other issues drectly caused by them? For the performance minded individual would you say they would be "safe" for street use?

Wow. Seems like it would be unbearable. I just wouldn't want it to be a hazard for daily driving on them. I love the idea of more instant throttle response but seems like it could be dangerous to daily. I would really hate to be worried about checking on every bolt periodically to make sure nothings come loose lol. I'm also playing with the idea of poly filling some new mounts as I've not come across any bad things about this and it really stiffens them up without going full solid with bolt all the way through.

So I'd like to update this thread. Even though I didn't end up using solid delrin mounts, I went and bought some oem mounts and on the quest to make them semi-solid I went to home Depot and bought some liquid polyurethane. Exact name is "loctite Pl fast grab 8x" did a lot of research on this as well reading up on how ppl use 3m window weld and all sorts of types of liquid urethanes. The particular loctite I used says it sets in 20 minutes and fully cures in 24hrs. But that goes for a 1/4"-1/2" bead lol. I filled in all the grooves for both engine and tranny mount with a little less than (2) 10 oz. Tubes which ended up being around 15 bucks total. I let it sit in around room temperature for 3 days, each day I checked and it was solidifying quite nicely. On the 3rd day it seemed very solid. Still rubbery but much stiffer than the super soft material used on stock mounts.
Impressions:
Upon install I started her up and indeed received some interior vibration but nothing compared to what others have mentioned when using solid/aluminum or other types of urethanes with higher grade of hardness. There is no ridiculous "every panel rattling" effect but vibrations are a little pronounced but nothing crazy. Mirrors stay in place, and honestly there is no rattle. This particular loctite I used has a hardness of only 35a iirc but is in my opinion the best upgrade I have done to my s13 in a while. Very streetable and a much better engine response as opposed to stock/new stock or even nismo mounts. If your mounts are in decent condition I highly recommend this mod as it appears to structurally reenforce them as well for the heavy beating we give our cars.

I filled the mounts completely to the edges of all the grooves on all the mounts I didn't blob it on and let it dry like all other pictures floating around online. Can't find any pics of the filling damn. I will entertain with these pics of my old mounts. Possibly the worst condition mounts ever seen lmao :keke:

Just to add from personal experience, I work on a formula ford (single seater open wheel car). They have the motor attached directly to the frame and that thing rattles and vibrates so much that pretty much every bolt is lock wired or loctited or both because they can and do vibrate and shake loose then fall right out. Ive seen other cars lose exhaust manifold bolts, oil pan bolts, belly pan bolts and many more. Ive never used solid mounts in anything on the street and i wouldnt either just for that let alone all the noise it will make.

I have the whiteline mounts and I love em. Lots of rattles and vibrations from the car being old though..been goin thru quieting the rattles. Its not bad at all. Gives the car some balls..ive had a few lil bullshit bolts come out that prolly woulda happened anyway but nothing serious
