View Full Version : Project JDM Police Cruiser : Day 2 (56K, this is going to take a while)
Okay continuing on with the story I started here (http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=61714) here's day 2.
Basically everything is installed. I need to tweak it a bit and do some headlight wiring, but other than that, here's pics:

You can see more, including some tear down and build up here (http://64.81.80.111/Stuff/SilConversion/).
All in all I like it. It does need paint, but I can live with it for now. If anyone has any good writeups on wiring the lights, please link me. I have a few people that said they would help, but I'd hate to haul them out just for some wiring.

if u need some help with the wiring i can help u out as well. u can looked at my crashed s13 for reference. i have some lightbulbs for the silvia headlamps that i'm selling as well.
Do you have sockets for the bulbs that do on the USDM fenders? I have 2 (one for each fender) but the sockets are different. The sidemarkers (next to the headlights) use 2 different sockets that match up to the 2 sockets I have, but that means both bulbs go in 1 sidemarker and the other sidemarker gets no bulbs. I don't know if that makes any sense. Give me about 10 minutes and I'll take some pictures.

check the socket from the bumper lights i think those are the ones that go in
Okay here's a pic, it's blury as all hell, but you can see what I'm talking about.
The hole on the left is like a 3 slot deal, while the hole on the right is a 2 slot deal. Like I said, I have 2 bulb sockets, 1 from each fender. 1 fits the hole on the left, 1 fits the hole on the right. Thats all fine, but now I don't have any bulb sockets for the sidemarker on the other side.

ok the one on the left is for the parking lights, the one on the right is for the signals. did u take the harness from ur old 240sx bumper? the one that plugs into the bumper lights. (i believe its a 3 socket one, and then u use ur sidemarker light from ur original fenders, u gotta extend the wires though)

is this what ur looking for?
I need to get some more bulbs and sockets.

So splice the bumper signals up so they reach the top signals. Then use the fender bulbs to light the clear lights?

yea u got it. just think back to stock and remember what each thing did.
i have some polarg bulbs if u need them.
That's the 3 prong I need. I also need a 2 prong. it looks like if you took a circle, divided it by 4 then removed 2 of the sections that were across from each other.

los,
You can only screw it up if you royally suck at painting.
As your car seems to be a simple color, you can probably get the cans at Kragen/Autozone, etc.. Look for the little duplicolor cans. They have a book with color codes. Get a scotch brite pad, scuff it, then sand it down with like 250 grit wet, once you take off the clear and dull the paint, primer, let it sit for a day, then recoat. Then take some sandpaper, wetsand the shit out of the primer. do it lightly with like some 600 grit, then some 1000 then some 2000 if you wanna be super anal. Then scuff the primer a bit and lay down the paint (or dont scuff it; I didn't and it worked fine). Do the same for the trunklid. Be careful on the hood tho, cus its such a large surface area, its easy to make it look "streaky" and then it comes out like poodoo.
Then it should be fine and look less ghetto. Granted thats not the best way to prep it, but this isnt a $2000 job, its a $60 rattlecan job. :P
Trust me, it looks way better, and will only take you a couple days.
DO IT
I am going to wait it out for now, until I can get the aero sideskirts and rear valances (sp?). Then I am going to take it in and get it fully painted.
