Alright, so I just picked up a Nismo test pipe, been doing some research, but Im not sure if I want to put it on or not. I have no emissions testing, a Megan 3" catback, and a stock ka, ive heard about 50/50 on power gains (i dont see it, but if it does hell yeah) is it raspy or no? so whats the final word, good or bad??

it makes no difference in sound... all that soudn magic comes from after the "test pipe". your cat is one piece with the downpipe. Just put on the test pipe, you will only gain.
I have always ran a"Test pipe" on all my Nissan's. I used to think you couldn't feel it with your butt dyno but on my ER34 you can tell noticeable difference in midrange power. Sounds never changed.

I noticed a more raspy sound come from the exhaust (not a bad sound) after going test pipe on my skyline but noticeable butt dyno results.

it might be seized to the cat pipe so be sure to put some heat on that hardware before you try to undo it. If it were me I'd put a DC sports header on at the same time, better yet chop the rear flange off the dc sports header, add a flex section, and a straight section with a flange to tie into your cat back.

It will probably be louder(cats are known to quiet down the exhaust note), it will definitely smell like pollution and be much more toxic to your health. Depending on how restrictive your current exhaust setup is you may gain some power. Your call.

If it's replacing your catalytic converter, expect to smell pretty bad when you arrive at your destination.

I mean, if you have it might as well try it.
Although I have one too that I've never put in. Car's loud enough as it is.

Its honestly a bit pointless to do on a stock KA. You'll see no performance gains and if you're doing it just for exhaust noise, then I have no comment.
