Project JDM Police Cruiser : Day 1

Today I began the process of modifying the exterior of my car. I got a Silvia front with an Aero bumper and non-projector headlights (thanks JKim0901).

All I managed to get done was the tear down because there was an issue with the driver's side fender. I guess the previous owner had a run in with some soft road and rocks. The 2 bolts for the fender that are under the car were pretty well mangled. Anyway, is there anything I should look at while I have everything off? I'd hate to waste this opportunity.

Does anyone have a link to a site that has install instructions? I'm sure I can figure it out myself, but I'd really like a reference guide to help me out.

Oh and the reason I am calling it Project JDM Police Cruiser is because of the 5 new body panels I picked up today, 4 are white (fenders, bumper & trunk) and one is black (hood), like my car. Hopefully I'll be able to get a paint job.

i'd just keep an eye out for rust... other than that just see that the frame looks to be in good shape; no bends/folds/cracks/whatevers.

I don't see any rust, but I do have some bends/folds on the driver's side. Basically where the fender attaches to the undercarriage is pretty chewed up. I am going to try and straighten it out tomorrow.

if you're asking what to look for you probably won't know it if ya see it. rust is obvious but frame damage that has been repaired can be tricky.

bolting the "new" parts up will be the easiest part. lining them up just might force you to cry uncle. it requires patience and resourcefulness... one of which you've already admitted to not having.

i suggest you work on that virtue before you hack up a good car :)

Hahaha. Not knowing me you've all gotten a very wrong opinion of me, but it's the internet, what else is new.

Anyway I know what to look for as far as rust and body damage, I was more talking about parts I should take out or replace while I've got the front off.

I was recently thinking how a police car look-a-like and a NYC tax cab look-a-like would look...those would be nice to see around.

Okay front end is on. It needs some tweaking, but it looks good. I haven't done the wiring yet. I'm not quite sure how to do it yet so it's time to do some research.

Anyway, as soon as I get the pictures off my camera I'll post them.

the wiring is pretty easy. the h4's plug up to your stock harnesses and the h3c's go to your pop up motor harnesses
