Yeah, just as the title says. Some friends and I drove down to Rancho Cucamonga last weekend to check out UTI, and it looks like a pretty sweet program. I need to get going with a real career before I get too old. ;)

Oh yeah, I saw a fixed-up 240 there...and was wondering if it belonged to someone on here.

i wanted to go there when i was finishing up highschool, but i figured I dont wanna end up as a mechanic only making a fixed amount of money.. .so i ended up goin to local college and its taking me forever... =(

I also figured maybe there would be a lack of hot chicks... :p

nrg:I think it was white.

HyperTek: I've been doing computer stuff for a while now, but I know for sure I don't want to do this for the rest of my life. I bet if you completed the Porsche (4.0 GPA + 100% attendence to qualify for!) or Benz program you wouldn't worry about money! But yeah, there is a lack of chicks. ^_^

Only 12 an hour? WTF!?!?!?!?!? I hope it isn't an hourly either and pays by the book. Usually for a ASE certified tech (in all the areas of normal certification) you'd make at least double that. Dunno though.

Are you serious? That sounds ridiculous.

yup, its an hourly rate too. those techs that make like 70k a year usually have years experience

^ Oh yeah, how do you know? The only we time WE see eachother is when we're working on car stuff!

Anyways, maybe the pay starts off low since those manufacturers actually pay for the schooling you take to get into their program.

My friend graduated from Motorcycle Mechanics Institute, and started a job @ $12 an hour too. But after a couple months he got bumped up to $16, and I'd imagine it'll keep rising once he gets more experience.

Kid Zelda where are yoooouuuuu....
