Damn, im tired of waiting for parts. Everything I order takes a shitload of time to research and decide on, since no one around here has anything remotely close to what i'm building that i can check out. After that, 5+ business days for shipping when the damn shipping company can get my parts to my door and i dont have to borrow a van to go pick them up from the loading dock. Buying things off of ebay and never getting a reply and not knowing when my parts are coming so i can set up a time at the garage to install them. Keeping my bodyshop waiting because parts are coming from Nissan Japan and I have no idea when they will be here. Wasting time at work every day making phone calls and emails trying to get things straightened out. Trying to order a B+M short shifter when every dealer is out of stock and the factory supposedly has none either. Checking for sale and group buy forums every hour to see if threads are updated...
I just gotta keep telling myself it will be worth it in the end.
In the past 2 weeks ive made the following orders from various people/ places:
1. s14 kouki JDM Headlights, front bumper, grill, amber blinkers
2. Kouki fenders and corner lights
3. VIS carbon fiber hood
4. KAAZ solid differential
5. B+M short shifter (cancelled order because they were out of stock)
6. B+M short shifter, Nimso 7 sided lug nuts
7. Nismo hard rubber shift knob
8. 300zx rear calipers
9. 300zx ebrakes (took forever to source, and they need rebuilt)
10. 300zx front calipers, all 4 rotors custom plated and drilled, conversion lines, fluid, 300zx 1 1/16 master cylinder
11. s14 zenki side skirts
12. s14 zenki rear valances
13. Appointment with body shop for paint job/ body work
14. im probably forgetting some stuff
:hammer:
ok i just needed to rant. But seriously, its hell waiting for all of these parts to come. I want my car DONE!!!!

I HEAR YA!
YOUR THE PREACHER AND IM THE CHOIR!
Yeah, i'm going through the same things as we speak, down to the 't'.
Still waiting on my cusco coilovers. They were shipped USPS priority from Japan. made it here in 5 days. Its now been 7 days. they were scanned @ the FPO (Federal post office), in NJ. since then i have not status of them. those Fackin bastards dropped my package down to Bulkmail. I paid $125 for facking priority shipping. it sucks i have no clue when my coilovers will be in now. I'm hoping some time this week.
On top of all thats, i recently recieved my z32 rear hubs and GTO front hubs in the mail a couple weeks ago, But b4 i can install the rear i need my rear pads i ordered off ebay. i havent recieved any sort of tracking or anything. i'm thinking of cancelling and going with my trusty ol pal from the north, Don from PDm racing. hes always done right, but shipping takes forever.
i guess this'll make us appreciate the things we do to our cars that much more.

well it is true, some things take time to ship and attain...
but the other part is, DONT buy from fuckin low-baller individuals pretending to be businesses of e-bay, buy from actual businesses like don, phase2, etc etc... support companies that support the 240sx community.

Good point, i bought calipers on ebay from an individual.
I try to support all of the advertisers on Zilvia, ive ordered from CIP motorsports, enjuku racing, rare trick, powertrix, and some others. Sometimes ebay is a last resort, or on a whim. The B+M shifter i had to cancel was from ebay, and i learned my lesson on that one. Performancenissanparts.com had it for $3 less anyways.

That stuff never bothered me much. I buy a lot of my used parts locally... but maybe that's just a luxury of being in the DC area. Of course I'm real picky about parts and I have weird tastes so I end up buying from cool people anyway just because they're the only ones with nice rare stuff for sale.
The only thing that really bugs me is the small number of people who won't ship small stuff. If you don't want to ship body panels and engines, that's cool, but not wanting to ship headlights? Calipers? Control arms? WTF? If someone's willing to eat the cost, I'll ship anything I've got that UPS will actually take.

It's your timeline...and need for new/rare parts and currently "hot" items that's causing you frustration.
I've built my car slowly since '98...not due to lack of money or lazyness...it's just evolved to what it is now as my needs an driving skill improved.
And I buy go-fast parts used when I find deals...only new stuff on my car is the Teins, anti roll bars, wheels, turbo and wastegate...everything else was used and significantly cheaper than retail cost. Or I fabricated it on my own...
And I have A LOT of aftermarket stuff on my car.
Granted, I'm not into body and paint work...but I can understand your frustration there.
Anyway, take a deep breathe...your "dream" 240SX will be realized quicker than a lot of the rest of us due to the way you've chosen to do it.
In your haste, make sure you do it right, and don't cut corners...you'll regret it later. And remember, you get what you pay for, you get what you pay for, you get what you...

Funny, but true. I'm pretty damn impatient when it comes to ordering things from people/online/ebay. If it's usually not here in two weeks, someone is going to get an e-mail/call. I've been luckilly enough to recieve just about everything I've ordered from ebay/online in less than two weeks. But I ordered z32 26mm calipers, from some guy on the this board.. and he keeps telling me he'll give me the status.. but I just wait and wait. Once it reaches 30 days, I will contact paypal about this, and have them maybe someway/somehow freeze his account, so I can get my money back.
Yes, I'm in CA..and tax sucks. I want my brakes now dammit./rant

An easy fix would be to deal with an East Coast 240SX specialist that stocks parts like this, or can get them for you fast. =)

I hear ya, takes forever to get parts on the Eastcoast. I'm way up in Maine, where there's more ATV's then cars, and people race snowmobiles on the local dragstrip..

Yeah sometimes I stop and think how spoiled we are out here in California as far as the scene is out here. We get D1, Drift days and any other major automotive venture out here while in the east coast most people are uninformied and think drifting is simply doing donuts.
Also with all the US offices of the Japanese companies located in California does not hurt either. JIC, Tein, Buddy Club, Apex'i, Greddy/Trust, HKS and the list goes on.
As far as US companies such as APC, Rotora, Velox, etc wether you like them or not are all located within very close vicinities of each other.
Shops such as Phase2motortrend, Jspec, Motorex etc. also doesn't hurt either. Then not to mention Nissan head quarters just happens to be in California too.
Of course to counteract all these we have the worst cops that out here to get you for having a modifed car and worst smog and visual check that we have to go through. So be glad you guys in the east coast don't have it as hard as us on that. Sure you may have to wait forever for all your stuff but be glad you don't have to be hassled for the stuff on your car.
