Whats up yall.

So, i have an s13 with an sr in it. New act light weight flywheel and new act heavy duty 6 puck sprung clutch.

My problem is when ever i start getting out of first. Engagement is super high and it shakes/jerks. The wheels will even spin sometimes. Does the same in reverse. Car shifts normal most of the time from 2nd-5th though.

Thing is, it did the same thing with the old clutch. I payed this time to have it replaced and when i told the installer what it was doing afterwards he informed me that it was due to the carrier bearing being shot, which i was aware of the bearings condition.

Replaced that, but still doing the same thing.

Also readjusted the pedal.

Installer also replaced my engine/trans mount and when doing so he said that the new mounts (jgs) moved the engine back slightly, putting more stress on the driveshaft. And saying that this could be the reason it is doing what it is.

I do have a j30 abs diff with the non-abs s13 driveshaft, if that matters.

I've driven a lot of different manual cars with no issues, so i do not believe that i just dont know what im doing, but this shit is bugging me.

Any help as to what i should check next would be much appreciated

Can anyone help me get to the problem im having? This is still happening and its driving me insane.

Another thing, not mentioned in the OP... When ever im in 1st gear and taking off, the car will reach a point that it feels like the rear end "drops" and then go back to normal.

By drop, i mean it feels like something youd see a powerful car doing on a launch. Like when the force from a high amount of torque makes it look like the wheels are pulling the car to the ground. If that makes sense.

I dont even really know how to explain it, as i dont know what the hell is actually going on.

I do have a j30 abs diff with the non-abs s13 driveshaft, if that matters.

A non-abs driveshaft is too long to use with an abs diff, if used together the u-joints will bind. The mounts, if what you say is correct, are making this problem worse.

Gonna try and out my open diff back in...

Did you try this?

I did put my open diff back in and now my driveshaft is a little too short. Because the guy that did the clutch had to put in what i assum was an abs driveshaft.

So i know its not the diff. Im gonna save for a one piece abs shaft and put my j30 back in some time soon

There is no way that your non abs drive shaft is short for your stock, open diff. Your mechanic is a dupe. He proved that by saying the cause of your shaking was your carrier bearing bracket.
Most j30 diffs are garbage so don't even waste your monies on buying a one piece abs drive shaft for your nearly junk j30 diff.

When I had the clutch changed, along with motor mounts/tranny mount he changed the driveshaft as well. Said the mounts I had pushed the engine back a little bit and he was having trouble with the non-abs shaft.

So now that I put my open diff back in, my shaft is a little too short, being as how its an abs shaft.

And he didn't say that my carrier bracket was causing the issue, it was the fact that the carrier bearing itself wasn't even sitting in the bracket as it should.
