My 90' s13 still hasn't cranked. I checked the notorious clutch interlock relay for functionality and it still works. Still clicks when I try to start the engine. I even jumped the clutch interlock switch with a 16 gauge insulated wire to see if it would turn but still nothing. Steering column was taken down to see if any ignition wires were lose or pulled out, no sign of anything peculiar. My battery was at 12.4 state of charge during the first day of diagnosing, last night it was 12.2. Pretty sure dead batteries would at least supply enough voltage for the starter to click. All my lights, radio, gauges work on ACC. Do I just need a new battery? Or does it sound like there's something else going on like a bad ground in the clutch interlock circuitry? And if yes, where are the grounds located? Any ideas & experiences would be great thanks.

Have you had someone turn the key and verify that your getting power to your signal wire yet? I feel this is pretty necessary to help you diagnose.

Signal wire to what? The vehicle was working fine a few days ago. It did this after starting in gear. I put it in neutral immediately after and it never cranked after that time.

At your starter there is a large power wire hot at all times. There is a small wire that has power to energize the solenoid while the key is in the cranking cranking position. You can stick a test light in the starter signal wire and make it visible while your in the car. If you have power there the starter might be toast a parts store can check it for you

Alright I'll try that. Any other tests that could be the issue?

Do you have access to another battery? Or you could pull the starter and test it.

Starter solenoid was dead. I started my diagnosis by checking for power at the ignition switch, clutch interlock switch & relay. All passed with normal voltage readings. Tested signal wire to starter which had no voltage at crank. Used the old hit the solenoid trick, car started with ease. Removed & replaced starter. Confirmed fix.
