hey
i put a 97 head onto my 92 block and did all the timing chain things. im sure i did the timing chain correctly, i triple checked everything. but when i try to put the distributor back in, it goes up to the ring and gets stuck. i tried taking off the ring and its still stuck. it only goes in when i turn the crankshaft with a socket wrench but when i turn it back counterclockwise it comes back out.
and once i put it in it gets stuck inside and its hard to turn it. i put wd40 all over it but it still doesnt help. anyone have any ideas? any help is appreciated. thanks

Are you at TDC on #1 cylinder?

Do you have the marks on the distributor aligned properly? Not sure if that would keep it from going in.

I had trouble getting mine back in too, but I just forgot about #1 TDC

haven't figured it out yet?

you probably know this but the distributor needs to turn to go in. you can't put it in straight. it'll turn the rotor when you put it in.

edit : otherwise try a dist from a 97? eh... i doubt that would be the problem...

I'm currently having this same issue on my DD. I need some help ASAP!!! If i turn the crank and put pressure on the dizzy its starts to go in but then get stuck in a sense that I could not rotate it for timing adjustment.

I've already broken one dizzy... cant afford another :(
