Before you post, use words, not w3rdz, and think about the grammar of your post.
Capitalization
Capitalization is important. It can mean the difference between:
I had to help my Uncle Jack off a horse.
and
i had to help my uncle jack off a horse.
Punctuation
Punctuation is also important. Take the following unpleasant ebay transaction:
I got fucked. Some guy just ripped me, and it was supposed to go smoothly. LIAR!
turns into
i got fucked some guy just ripped me and it was supposed to go smoothly LIAR
Just stuff to think about. I'll give a spelling / synonym lesson when that gets out of hand.

If bad spelling is going to be bannable, I could really use a spell check feature. :D

Hell, and all this time I thought there was a spell check on here. Only now did I notice that there was not.

I think it should be.
Ok, banning is a bit extreme, but one should at least expect a good fucking-with if their spelling, grammar or punctuation are messed up.
Typos and the occasional forgotten period or capital letter are fine, but run-on sentences with no punctuation, capitalization and a distinct majority of misspelled words should be unacceptable.
Nobody's asking anyone for a thesis on Marx and his effects on modern China.
We're just looking for a little bit of readability.
If someone spoke as poorly as some people type, you wouldn't want to listen to them. Hell, I dont want to listen to people who speak like 'thugs' or 'gangsters'. That sort of thing drives me batshit.

Didn't copy-paste. But the jack off a horse thing was in someone's sig. And I just read a thread with no punctuation so had to include that somehow too.

nah
I say 'y0' or 'JDM tYt3!' all the time. The thing is, I'm doing it more in a mocking manner. I should really make that more clear.
Besides, sometimes it's funny to make intentional misspellings, etc.
There's a big difference between the occasional misspelling/bad punctuation/grammar and CONSTANT misspelling/bad punctuation/grammar.

Plan for the Improvement of English Spelling
For example, in Year 1 that useless letter "c" would be dropped to be replased either by "k" or "s", and likewise "x" would no longer be part of the alphabet. The only kase in which "c" would be retained would be the "ch" formation, which will be dealt with later. Year 2 might reform "w" spelling, so that "which" and "one" would take the same konsonant, wile Year 3 might well abolish "y" replasing it with "i" and Iear 4 might fiks the "g/j" anomali wonse and for all...

I had to help my Uncle Jack off a horse.
You know;that statement could have a couple of different meanings. I just hope that your uncles name is actually Jack.....:mepoke:
Jeff240sx
08-31-2004, 10:11 AM
Hence the capitalization of Uncle Jack, showing that it's a proper noun, and inferring that I do have an Uncle Jack. The second sentence there has no proper nouns, inferring that you're gonna help jerk a horse. This is why capitalization is important. Or you *might* be just a little slow :p
