1990 s13 brake lights on key off

Just noticed this yesterday! Come home to my parked 240 with tail lights on. Had to disconnect battery cable, was In a rush to work. Anyone have this problem before? Classmate of mine has the same problem. I'm too lazy to diagnose myself, if you know the exact cause of this with s13 feel free to share your experience.

Check the plastic tab on your brake pedal that triggers the brake switch. Happens a lot. Sometimes they break.

Run a zip tie through it 9 months later still going strong here

Anyone know what the green wire switch is for on the brake pedal? The right switch with red output wires operates the brake lights, but the switch to the left next to it operates what?
