someone compare them with something in their price range, someone who has had experience with other coilovers.

If the D2s were your first set ever, of course you're going to say "I love them!" ...are you going to tell us "Shit I'm a fool, I wasted my money!"

get the drift?

haha! ok that last one was ghey

He did: AGXs and Tein springs...
They're cheap.

dont' d2's run like 700 bucks on a gb.

if he paid retail, agx = $400+ easily and teins well... i dunno... but typically $200-$250 isn't too far off.

but apples to oranges... it might be more relevant to compare them to something like tein basics.

Well what DID or didn't you like about your teins / KYBs ?

I'm looking for spring/strut combo upgrade but I want something that's streetable. My car is soley a daily driver but I still enjoy crisp handling and definitely appreciate a quality ride ESPECIALLY with NJ / NYC roads. The Tein/KYB were high on my list but I wouldn't be against shelling out more money for a better upgrade that's still streetable.

Ask Zemus, he says he loves his. He doesn't have much other coilover experience however.

Also, I don't know of too many other sets of coilovers that come that cheap. I don't know what kind of comparisons you're gonna get. I considered getting them too but had to spend money on non-car related things....

my friend runs tein flex on his evo8 and drives around in NJ... he says on its softest setting it feels like a regular car.

my gf's brother put tein HEs on his s13. a couple weeks later something on his suspension snapped! guess the car didn't like the new suspension on nj roads.

at any rate, i would look at flex or even basics... for 240sx i think the spring rates at 6/5 and 6/6 respectively. NJ roads can be quite a problem to deal with when thinking about stiffer suspension.

Well given this car is a major learning experience, i figure i'd give the Tein/KYB a shot first. I was leaning towards coilovers for awhile but thought that at the level i'm at, perhaps a spring/strut combo woudl be better suit...

Tein Flex, He's were ironically the two coilover systems i was interested in.. as well as Silk Roads...

take a look at tein basics. they run about as much as a spring/shock setup. i've seen em for $700 bucks or so. i think they are 6/6 which is a decent rate for NJ. don't quote me on that rate however. :P

they are kind of bleh as far as coilovers go b/c they don't come with pillowball mounts. but, neither would a spring/shock setup. and they are height adjustable, which is a plus they have over springs/shocks.

I wanna get rid of my Tein HRs (same as HA without damper adjustment) and try some KTS coilovers offered at splparts.com...

I think they look better then the D2s, and you can always buy new cartridges..

True and True. Ive driven on HEs, and personaly liked the D2s better, cuz their stiffer. But If I was to do it again, id do Silk Road or the coils that SPL sells.

I mean I think 3 of the mods have the D2 (west, ace and jeff?) also Halo has em, and all of them seem to like them. And Ace does very well with them :). So I dont see why their quoted as being as bad.. for the price their AMAZING

Hey, you did say price range. :mepoke:
Tein Basics would be a better comparison, and if the D2s are decent quality I'd say they win based on specs alone.

my tein he's feel almost identical to my frends d2's.. i hate it when people knock on suspension because they have better:(./ sucks dicks.. anyhow.... i have ridden in an s13 with hk3 hypermax..(dissapointed) kei office(waste of money) silk road( firm but struts are brittle) and jic(amazing... but still not worth the 1500+)..

to sum it all up.. coil overs apply " in brands" really just apply to people who have the money to spend on them.. i bought he's because they were the best bang for my buck... i paid 1100 shipped.. i couldnt not see myself paying 1500+... HELL NO. setting 10 on my he's feel like my cars gonna call apart anyway... and thats with 28,xxxk on them..

anyhow. d2's are sexxy/./ i like them:)

I have the SPL/KTS coilovers. Only had them for about two weeks. Before I had these I had the same AGX/TEIN combo. I particulary wanted something stiffer and height adjustable. I was thinking of getting D2's at first but then I decided to go with SPL because of their customer support, and they are located in Texas and I'm in Louisiana. So if I need something quick then they can get it to me fast. I've never had experience with any other coilovers, so I can't compare.

Silk Roads own :), I'm suprised you thought the D2s were better than HEs, not seeing much love for HEs anymore.

Idiots hate on the HEs becuase everyone is about hating on JDM tightness. It's the next trend. BLAH BLAH BLAH. Tein makes nice stuff. I'm a notorious curb humper, and my HE's have been treating me fine for over 3 years.

???

I thought my coilovers were better than HEs, but they are JDM too... Not to say HEs are crap they are still great coilovers, I just wish I had the oppurtunity to drive on more coilovers. Only driven on HEs (8/6 and something like 5.5/6), Silk Roads, and some GP Sports coilovers (non dampening adjustable).

I do pretty well on them too. They could be a tad stiffer, but overall, for the price, very hard to beat. I like them a lot. :D

I run 7/5 spring rates. I have an extra pair of 9kg/mm in case I feel the need to go to 9/7. :)

Hmmmm... That's a nice price for the KSports, but don't know if I'll be able to kick the money down this week for the group buy.

Bing if you can find out how much Marc sells the D2s for, and when he could ship them, I'd really appreciate it.

bing
08-28-2004, 12:03 AM
well the deal is this,

when you order off of ebay or similar, these places dont keep them in stock, they simply have the coilovers 'drop-shipped' ( i beleive that is the term) and D2 ships them to you and you get ravaged for customs fees.

we did this for a buddy with a civic and he got tabbed for $225 from UPS.

we would accept them at marcus's shop. pay all the international shipping and customs our selves adn then ship to you, unless there are some on american shores already.

let me ask tomorrow for you..

i spoke with him over the weekend,

he didnt go into details with me but i know there is an issue with the facility he was setting up a shop at.

i am under the impression that he will have to make an unexpected relocation, which is likely the reason he has been difficult to get ahold of.

i have him on MSN and he hasnt been online in a couple days which is very unlike him. i will see him this week for sure.

he is definately not the type to take $$$ and run, myself and my whole club do alot of business through him and although he is at times at the mercy of customs and courriers, he is never dishonest about money.

when i do see him i'll raise this issue, i know how it feels having several hundred dollars tied up in another country...lol... not fun

hey everyone,

i spoke with mark late last night,

he is in the process of relocating his shop with a full inventory switch over.

also involved in that is the relocation of the 2 new hoists he just bought among other things.

he had been unavailable to even his closer friends for a few days and likely will be for a couple more until he gets internet hooked up at the new place.

i did inquire about the D2's and he admitted that D2 is being quite slow with this shipment, but also said that there is a GRIP of coilovers coming on this next shipment. as for arrival times, he has gotten in trouble before trying to estimate D2 shipments, so no speculation on this one.

i myself was involved in the very first group buy and it arrived i think a month or maybe more after we had planned, but it did get here and everything was well.

if you are unable to get ahold of Mark yourself i guess i can try to address individual concerns, but they will most likely come under the same explanation given here.

obviously he apologizes for the inconvenience.

Ok now Im really getting pissed! I finally got a reply last week saying they have shipped and would be here on Friday the 17th(no tracking number). Its now the 21st and they are still not here. Its been a month since I ordered them and they were supposed to be here a week after being ordered. The seller is a liar as when I bought them he said they were in stock and ready to ship. Could you please pm me his phone # so I can call him before I file a fradulant complaint with ebay.
