SR20det motor

Ok so my chain skipped a tooth some how and now I'm trying to get back on track and running things that are done:

Crank at second mark on left

Cam lobes facing out (well intake isn't perfectly horizontal)

Cam dowles are or close to 12 o'clock exhaust, 10 o'clock intake.

Now the problem I'm having is the CAS looks very close close to Lin up center but not perfect.

Also I counted PINS between link and I Count 18. There are 22 of you count the link pins. Also I count 9 links between new timing links and 11 counting them.

So where exaltly do you start count the link PINS cuz I either keep getting 18 or 24. Not sure how People get 20. But the link count seems to be good.

Either way help me you suave bastards. Call me a retard if you will just throw me a bone here.

Onto the pics:

holy giant pictures. http://i.imgur.com/Ld05Wov.jpg

Looks correct to me, but your pictures are hard to see whether they are truly lined up. The exhaust cam needs to be at 12 o'clock relative to the head. Can be tricky sometimes.

lobes face outwards, 20 of those red marks above dot to dot sounds right. With the slack out of the chain (between gears) you should notice both lobes are also slightly pointed up, that is approx 4-6* of an angle with respect to the horizon.

It's actually 11 links dot to dot, you can count the rollers if you want to, but the links are big enough to were anyone can just count it once, including people that like aspartame.

Setting mechanical time is easy, if you happen to not be able to get 15°btdc with your timing light, you should only have to go back to the tensioner and cas install portion of the procedure. Take the tension out before the cas is installed, then rotate the engine to tdc on compression stroke again install cas.

Ps skilling a tooth is impossible, but skipping a tooth is not plausible.

Thanks for the replies guys. As luck would have into can check my work yet due to my tensioner cracking near the bolt hole. Waiting for Replacement.

Also just to double check. Do I install the CAS before the tensioner? Or tensioner before the CAS?

Not sure about the aspartame counting but we'll see.

install the tensioner before cas. The silver link should be on cam sprocket dot
and oil pump sprocket.
