Street legal race car built off of a 1989 Nissan 240sx platform.
This car is powered by a 406 cuin (6.7L) Chevrolet V8 small block which makes 468bhp and 508ftlbs of torque in its current configuration. The motor was built for a broad power band with gobs of mid range torque. The motor puts near or over 400ftlbs to the wheels across all but the very top of the rpm range. The motor can turn 6800rpm and makes peak hp at around 5500rpm. With a slightly different cam the bhp could go well over 500bhp, but at a sacrifice in lower rpm torque. This is driven through a Muncie MC1 3 speed transmission from a 1969 Camero SS, followed through with Skyline diff and axels with 3.69 rear gears.
The car only weighs 2335lbs without driver. During the last time that lateral acceleration was logged the car saw a peak of 1.96g's on cold asphalt with slicks. On hot asphalt or concrete this number should be well over the 2 g mark.
The car was a trailered car with a salvage title that was reconfigured to be street legal. It has been built to the SCCA SOLO XP rules. The car is completely capable of running Fastest Time of Day at autocrosses with good driving, and will usually run around 5th out of 100 entries with so-so driving
Below is a list of modifications:
Engine:
400cuin Chevy small block bored 0.030" over to 406cuin
Eagle rotating assembly with forged rods and +5cc forged pistons
Eagle cast crank
Cleavlite 77 engine and cam bearings
McKenny front sump oil pan with trap doors
High flow oil pump
Cometic head gasket
Dart Pro1 230cc (intake) aluminum ported heads with 64cc combustion chambers
Howards circle track cam
Howards solid flat lifters with hardened cam surface
Cromoly pushrods (either Comp or Crane, I can't remember)
Crane 1.5 Aluminum roller rockers
Aluminum stud girdle
Almost all engine fasteners are from ARP
Victor Jr intake manifold port matched to heads with a blended chamber
Holley 780cfm Street avenger with electric choke and vacuum secondaries (easier to drive than a Holley double pumper that was on the car before)
Road racing carb floats
K&N air filter
High flow water pump
Afco 31" double pass radiator
Mishimoto radiator fans in a custom aluminum shroud
Adjustable fan temperature controller
MSD soft limit rev limiter with a small variety of pills
Custom long tube headers 1 7/8" primaries dumping into a pair of 3" collectors
Dual 3" exhaust with a crossover
Dual Pypes RacePro mufflers with 3" inlets and outlets
Adjustable fuel pressure regulator
Carter high flow mechanical fuel pump
Sunpro gages
Rest of drive train:
Muncie MC1 3 speed transmission
custom DOM driveshaft
Skyline GTS-T diff housing and axels
Kaaz 1.5 way clutch diff
3.69 to 1 rear gears (IIRC from a Nissan S15)
Willwood clutch MC
RAM sintered iron single stage hydraulic clutch
SS braided clutch lines
Suspension:
Saginaw power steering pump running into a 240sx power rack
Fortune auto coilovers
10kg/mm swift front springs
8kg/mm rear springs
6kg/mm included, but not installed
rear strut tower brace
Adjustable front tension control rods
Godspeed front sway bar
Circuit sports solid steering bushing
Adjustable RUCA
Adjustable rear trailing links
Hawk HPS brake pads
Smaller brake MC
5 lug conversion
Wheels and tires:
350z 17" wheels with Sumitoyo tires (rears will need replacing soon)
Aero 15"x10" race wheels with 11.5" wide biasply autocross/ road racing slicks on all corners (about ~10-15 autocross runs on them, still pretty new)
Chassis/body:
Steel grill
Hella headlights
Aluminum front bumper cover
Aluminum vented hood on steel frame (lighter that a fiberglass hood ~20lbs)
Aluminum sunroof delete
Aluminum door skins
Aluminum quarter window delete
GT style side mirrors
Huge aluminum dual element rear wing with Gurney flap
Alumalite front splitter
battery relocated to behind passenger seat
12 gallon fuel cell
SS braided fuel lines
roll cage main hoop available, but not installed
Kirkey 14" intermediate containment seat in drivers location
Kirkey 16" layback seat in passengers position (could be moved to driver's side if driver needed seat larger that 14")
RCI harnesses (5 point on drivers side, 4 point on passenger's side)
The bad:
The cabin gets warmed by the engine. Good in the winter, bad in the summer.
Occasionally the starter will struggle to crank a hot motor, but I have always been able to get it to crank.
As listed above it will need rear street tires soon
It has a small oil leak coming from the rear of the intake manifold that likes to collect on top of the transmission (edit: I think that this is has now been resolved)
I am asking $10,900 or a reasonable offer for the car. NO joy rides. Call or text (text preferred) Josh at 843-367-9097 info I may consider a trade. Text me pictures, the worst that I can say is no. This car is crude, but it is nothing short of an experience to drive.
