So, I just had an encounter with some shitty scammer selling an FD RX7 on Washington DC Craigslist. I knew it was a scam from the start when I saw the ad, because who lists a mint condition black FD for $4000? Anyways, I text the guy knowing its a scam, this is what it looks like.

I'm not going to blur out this guys phone number because he is a dick for scamming people. Anyways, the hondachat.com thing is a fake link to find their IP address and location. They apparently know what they are doing, because there longitude and latitude pointed to China, their phone pointed to New York, and their ip pointed to Virginia. I told him/her my email, and I will update this original post with info as I get it.

This is the car they were selling for 4k

lol all you did was give away your email that they can sell to marketing groups who can send you junk.
you won't receive any more information on the car because it's not real.
the "scam" is already complete and you didn't even notice hahah

i have a pretty crazy craigslist scam story, happened about 2 years ago...

anyways, my wife was selling a wedding dress(ended up going with a different one) on craigslist for $150. So this guy contacts her and starts texting her saying he'll buy the dress for his daughter and he's outta state and asks if his wedding planner could pick up the dress after a payment was made. he wanted to send a "little" extra for the dress so the wedding planner would be paid as well. the dress had been on there for a while and said whatever as long as its cashier's check or cash. i was assuming he'd send 170-180...no this guy sends a cashier's check for $2500! my wife gets the check and deposits it then texts me while i'm at work telling me about it. i said go get the check...she wouldn't she was so embarrassed so i had to leave work and get it. the check looked pretty legit, and it actually "cleared" because i have a decent relationship with the bank and funds in there as well. i was supposed to withdraw all of it minus the amount for the dress and then the guy was supposed to come pick up the rest, instead i ended up calling the guy and telling him to go fuck himself. it's a scam called phishing, pretty "legit" for a scam, if i would've given him the cash i would've been liable for the remaining money after his bogus check bounced. the check looked 100% legit, if i could go back i would've just called the cops after they verified the check was infact a fake and had that piece of shit put a way! anyways...not car related but it is scam related so i thought i'd share.

I just got an email from "Diana"

Hello,

My name is Diana, and I'm emailing you about Mazda RX-7 that I have
for sale. It is a 1994 model loaded with everything. Never had or need
any paint/body work done, garaged keep always, without any mechanical
problems, tires and wheels are in great shape as well, electric is
working perfectly. The engine runs very good and the manual
transmission shifts perfectly. Has a clean and clear title in my name
and there are no liens or loans on it.This car was used by my husband
who died 4 month ago.The price was reduced at 4000 because I'm in a
hurry to find a buyer. I need to sell the car before the 12th of the
this month, when I will be leaving on military duty with my medical
team back to Japan for a year and do not want to store my car. Hate to
sell it but its not worth keeping insurance and paying storage fees
for a year.Right now I'm in a military base of Army National Guard in
Bel Air,MD. The vehicle is here with me at the base and the delivery
process will be managed by me Also, the car is too fast for my
daughter so there's no use on keeping it. If you have any other
questions, email me back.

Mileage 122,000
Body Style:Hatchback
Exterior Color:Black
Interior Color:Black
Engine:Rotary Turbo
Transmission:Manual

That's not what phishing is. Glad you caught your dumb wife's mistake before it was too late! ;)

You're right. Just googled phishing, that's info, idk what this was then. I just wish I wouldn't have called the dude and told him to go fuck himself. if I could go back and have the cops waiting at my house for him that would've been great
