Okay, so here's my situation. I can't pass the CA smog test. I know right? Here we go again with smog. Well believe me, I've searched almost every forum I could think of, google'd my situation and basically followed what some people have done with no good results. Keep in mind, I think I'm borderline passing. Anyway, on with it.

It seems that I'm running rich, but can't seem to figure out the cause. No check engine light. All sensors are working fine scanner wise and performance wise. I also retarded my timing a little from 20 BTDC to 18-19 BTDC and use 87 octane from Chevron. My tag expires at the end of the month and I'm desperate for any solution...I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

try running it with less than a quarter tank, at least 2 bottles of ISO HEET, and over inflate your rear tires.

also heat up the cat as much as possible prior to the test.
