Trying to achieve a "light" clutch pedal. Need help.

Im currently running a competition clutch six puck and its too hard for my liking. Was wondering if there is anyway to make it easier for daily driving then it is now. Already have stainless steel lines, nismo clutch slave cylinder, and new oem MC. Also deleted the damper loop.

Or am I just better off getting a different clutch?

What motor and power level? Are you on stock clutch hydraulics?

You could go to a smaller master cylinder and/or larger slave, but that will mess with the throw.

The motor is a s14sr. making 290hp and 280 trq.

Now is your chance to do some reading about levers and pulleys, a general physics book will guide you.

Or as was suggested (lift), do some heavy barbell back squats. If you manage not to kill yourself, they will go a long way to improving your leg and back strength, and also make you feel better.

You can adjust the pedal so that the engagement is close to the top. Making more leverage would mean modifying the pedal so that rod to the master cylinder is mounted higher up

joking aside, just use it for awhile, you'll adjust to it. When you get back into a normal manual transmission, you'll slam the pedal to the floor like it owes you money, its pretty funny.

As a side note, you always adjust the pedal such that there is a bit of free-play near the top. It will keep the throwout bearing from riding the pressure plate, which would possibly cause pre-mature wear, or even a slipping clutch.

Well with the damper everyone was saying take it out. So if I reinstall it it will help with the was the pedal feels?

And with all the joking aside, reason for this is because I screwed my lower back up. And I feel like using the heavy clutch pedal aggravates it more. Hints the reason Im looking for a way to lighten it. I have been driving with this clutch for years and I would definitely recommend it to other people. But for my situation its just too much at the momment and I would like to get back to driving the car with out it hurting my back.

alright, so you need a lighter clutch. Looking up on Enjuku, you're using the 6 puck "Ironman" stage 3 clutch? You may want to look into something like their 2100 series, "stage 2" clutch. You're going to want to call competition clutch to confirm this, but in theory, it should have a lower sprung pressure plate. It's advertised to hold 80% more power than stock, being (again, in theory) 360 lb-ft. I run a similar clutch made by ACT which has a moderate pedal feel, but not the stiffest I've felt. In comparison, an Exedy Hyper-Single has a stiffer pedal feel (no dampener) than my clutch (also with no dampener). Hope you're back feels better!

Adding a damper won't really change the stiff pedal, that's all up to the pressure plate. The damper is really there to get rid of vibration at higher rpm.

I am using an XTD stage 3 clutch and flywheel. Every time i don't use my s13 for a while, i think the clutch system has leaked out and i have no fluid remaining, that is how soft it is.

The reason is simple: pressure plate applies light pressure, but the wearable material has much higher friction.

Meaning it needs a flywheel with a hardened surface, as it will literally eat the OEM one.

It also can't take much abuse. I didn't even do 10K miles and it is slipping on hard acceleration out of corners (torsen and sticky tyres dont help). Still, that was cheap ... going for a spec stage 3 now. I KNOW this one is going to be hard on my leg. Still, i know what they can do, so that probably is the last clutch i'll ever change.

If this is a real problem for you that cannot be fixed by the most simple alternatives (of which there are few to none realistic) and you absolutely needed to drive a manual transmission for some reason (god knows why you wouldn't just go for an auto if you really needed it, the auto would be faster anyways...) then I recommend looking into hydraulic throwout bearings, and figure out a way to get one in there. I know those can be ridiculously soft, I felt a custom job in a 54 chevy once, and you could push down this 800 horsepower engine's clutch pedal with a pinky.

IF Z32 TT's come with those I would say they dont do much. I drove a stage 3 JWT Z32TT with around 550hp and a stage 5 ACT clutch. I'm not a big guy (5'9" 180lbs) but that clutch made me feel like a little girl. At the time I was daily driving a stage 3 clutch master in a CRX with a manual cable clutch and it was far easier then the Z32 clutch. Even the clutch master gave me charlie horses in traffic till I got used to it. That Z32 clutch though... Ugh....

i have a rps street pp 6 puck disk (holds 400whp 350 wtq) and it is as soft as oem sr20 clutch. not sure if you can still buy one of those though

I know it's and older thread, but I was poking around and saw this product, made me think of this thread. A little expensive, but for those who like to have their cake and eat it too. Props to Mazworx for doing the work and making it easy for SR guys (wonder if this would work on a KA clutch since the setups are so similar..
